TOCs, Fleet Managers, and Rolling Stock maintainers alike begin to sleep a little easier at night (...unless on night-shifts) with knowledge of the replacement for obsolete Siemens 3TH and 3RT relays
The relays were popular in Rolling stock designed in the late 1980s and early 90s. Since then the curse of obsolescence has struck. You'll find these relays on London Underground's Central Line 92TS, Electrostar, Turbostar, Networkers (CL465 & CL466), and elsewhere.
The D8 Relay Module family (a) fits in the same envelope (b) has its terminations mounted at the same height and location as the old/legacy relay to eliminate the need for train wires to be shortened or lengthened (c) mimics the termination numbering to allow easy re-wire (d) mirrors the same fixing positions to the train cupboard so no need to drill fresh holes creating swarf (e) intention lateral movement when contacts come together to provide self cleaning to improve markedly upon the old relay which would commonly fail on high contact resistance.
