The Toastmasters Pathways -Mission

Vision without action is a dream, Mission is the action towards any vision. My Vision of joining toastmasters was to improve the public speaking skills. The vision to improve public speaking skills was successful only because of the mission that is Pathways. Pathways is designed to help us shape our skills as an encouraging communicator and leader.

 I selected the path of Effective Coaching, the missions on this path focus on understanding and building consensus, paying to the progress of others by coaching, and establishing solid public speaking skills. Each mission in the pathways highlights the importance of effective and interactive communication. I will always suggest all budding toastmasters to select the path considering development your skill or your career. I am working as a corporate trainer there are visible changes in my communication and speaking skills, now my students are telling me that I am a good actor also.

Learning started from the first speech i.e. the ice breaker where I opened the door towards the wonders of public speaking. After breaking the ice, I started breaking the chains of fear, anxiety which use to hold me from exploring the world of public speaking.

Unless you go further to the ocean you will not find the actual depth of it; Public speaking is an ocean and Toastmasters is the best place which will take you to the depth of public speaking. After my first speech where I learned how to apply the evaluations which is the shadow of yourself in the toastmasters journey, the shadow will be watching you carefully and guide you to improve after each mission, after learning the basics of how to stand up , I started walking by doing researching on the subjects and presenting and sharing knowledge to other fellow toastmasters.

I gradually moved to the next level where I understood myself by knowing my leadership and communication styles which I never ever came to know or bothered to understand. Now I can independently move with more confidence. I started to hold the hands of the other baby toastmasters through toastmasters mentoring and helped them on their journey with toastmasters. Where I started learning about the importance of giving back.

I continued my Journey further crossing the boundaries of Toastmasters to the society and learned to reach consensus with people around me. Gradually I started delivering social speeches more confidently and was able to use the presentations more accurately, then as all of us love the best part , learning storytelling where all of us will become kids , to hear the stories of different people and life situations , I learned that Storytelling will help in building better connections with the audience and make sure that they are engaged to you speech, By using proper eye contact, body movements, hand gestures and voice and vocal variety made the audience connected to my speech like the new 5G internet of Ooredoo.

The advanced levels are designed in way that helps to mold us to a better public speaker, where I learned to Manage a difficult audience, experienced coaching the new budding toastmasters. The practical based approach of coordinating an event was a great experience where I got the opportunity to work with different people working towards the common Vision in my High-Performance Leadership Project. I leaned planning and presentation of the results of the task. The keynote speech delivery was a wonderful experience where I tried to put forward all the aspects of public specking where I delivered my speech on speaking professionally. I have enrolled my new mission of Leadership Development path, Keeping in mind that learning never stops , keep yourself like this half empty bottle , where you can pour more water to it, what if its full? if you pour more, it will overflow, always think that you are half empty then you will be able to accept more and lean more .
