Nice event to build relationships, bad for business.
It was a really cool event to enjoy a sunny day in Amsterdam, have fun with the ambient, food, live music, some conferences, but... that's it.
Disruptive... Yes please!
In a new world where the Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing and VR became trendy, TNW shows this spectacular 360 Agora. So I expected incredible speeches, but in fact, you realise that the speaker is not really comfortable talking to any direction and they are like "robots". In fact, I saw that is format is not really engaging the audience at all. I saw similar scenarios many times, but it's not really good for keynotes that are not a real "showman/woman". So finally, I decided to view them later on video because of course, you will not find the speaker after the talk, they disappeared inside the VIP area.
Fun & business
One of the thing that I missed a lot it was the Air conditioning. I know that having a sunny day is cool for a raining city like Amsterdam, but it's not for listening a keynote or being inside the roadshow. The Dome (the bubble visible in the middle of the above picture) was a really nice sauna. So basically, almost everybody preferred to have our meetings at the green grass with a beautiful fresh air (even formal meetings with investors).
Facing up that do business it won’t be the main reason for coming to TNW, we started enjoying Amsterdam and the great ambient this city offers, we made a lot of new friends, that's of course, one of the key elements we all need in our busy business lives.
