TM1 Rules Functions -- New Resource!

TM1 Rules Functions -- New Resource!

Did you know that Cubewise just published definitions for all the IBM Planning Analytics TM1 Rules functions, with examples and syntax explanations? Each video shows the rule function in action, so you can see a clear example, which is pretty neat.

You can find videos for 100+ TM1 rules functions on our YouTube channel, here:

Here are a couple of my favorite Rules functions, with the links to the video for each!

CONTINUE

This is a powerful command that can really simplify complex “if” statements. I frequently use “CONTINUE” as the “else” portion of the “if” statement. It allows you to split up a complex rule into multiple simple rules, instead.

ELISANC

This function determines if one element is the ancestor of another element. It’s very useful for applying rules to one set of elements, such as all the Overhead departments, or all the Travel related expense accounts.

CONSOLIDATECHILDREN

This function forces TM1 to consolidate the children of a particular roll-up. It can be useful when you have a mix of N and C rules, and TM1 is not consolidating along the appropriate hierarchy. For example, headcount should add across the departments, but not the months.
