THIS IS THIS THE LEWIS FOUNDATION

Last Sunday we hosted an afternoon tea at the beautiful Delapré Abbey (see photo above) to thank our incredible team of volunteers for all they do to make our work at our charity The Lewis Foundation possible and supporting our vision to help as many people as possible diagnosed with cancer. Missing a few of our team members today, sending lots of love.

Everyone plays a role in making what we do possible from fundraising in the community, running our shop/coffee shop, running gift packing sessions, organising and hosting events and raising our profile in the community.?

People often say how do you do what you do, it’s because we have the best team.

Together we are a force for good making a difference to the lives of those diagnosed with cancer in hospital and the community.

Huge shout to the Delapre Abbey team for an excellent service, fantastic hosting and food was incredible!

HOW YOUR SUPPORT MAKES A DIFFERENCE?

"I started my chemo treatment last Monday and it was lovely to see your gift packs at Addensbrooke Hospital. I did take the adult colouring book and made a donation to your charity.

It is wonderful to know there are kind, caring humans in this world. The world need more people like you. Thank you for everything."

Thank you Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for your continued partnership working, which enables a difference like this to be made.

This is how your donations in the feedback in the post above & gifting your time contribute to making a difference in the lives of those diagnosed with cancer in hospital.

When you are in hospital small acts of kindness mean the world to the recipient. They know they are cared about and someone took the time to think of them.

We love that The Lewis Foundation provides an opportunity to build a network of support to help others.

One gift cost £3.60.

KATHLEEN'S FUNDRAISER IN AID OF THE LEWIS FOUNDATION

Huge thank you to Kathleen who recently held a fundraiser with The Lewis Foundation being one of the chosen charities they wished to support.

Kathleen shares below the reason why they chose to support us.

“Our daughter, Rosie aged 40, was diagnosed with Myeloma Cancer in late 2022 after having just a general blood test at her GP's. So began a year of chemo injections twice weekly, bone strengthening infusions, stem cell harvest and stem cell transplant. It was during the stem cell treatment that I contacted The Lewis Foundation and one of your representatives got a gift bag to Rosie whilst in Nottingham City Hospital for 3 weeks. It was a complete surprise and she was so thrilled. That was the week she lost her hair.

Then 6 more months of chemo injections, more bone strengthening infusions and literally tons of medications. She has not been able to work for 14mths and with no help from any benefits has at times struggled to get to her treatments. Although we, as her parents are on benefits, we have had to help monetarily to support her.

As we hand her over to specialists and doctors, we felt we wanted to do something.

What better than put on a dance to raise money for our two favourite charities, The Lewis Foundation and Myeloma UK.

We had the ballroom given to us at a knockdown rate, raffle prizes donated, the music for the night gifted to us. Plus 2 very special messages sent to us to show on the big screen. None other than Ms. Shirley Ballas and Mr. Anton du Beke. I managed to keep this surprise quiet for 5 months.

We all had an amazing, wonderful evening raising money for such good causes. £1200 raised overall.”

We are so pleased we were able to help Rosie and that the family wanted to do something to support others in similar situations. We can’t thank you enough for your support and paying it forward to make a difference to others.
