PAMPER WELLBEING EVENT FOR CANCER PATIENTS

This week went spent Wednesday morning bringing joy to those diagnosed with cancer via our charity The Lewis Foundation.

We were able to run a workshop, thanks to the support of Rushden Lakes and Morrisons to not only help us secure therapists to carry out the pamper treatments but also the venue and a fantastic lunch!

Thanks to Donna French who recruited the following businesses to donate their time to give treatments:

Superdrug ( Corporate Healthcare by Superdrug )

L’OCCITANE Group

BrowWow

The Body Shop

We were able to provide products to help the skin, with supporting information thanks to our partnership with Naturally Tiwa Skincare | B Corp? with the products funded thanks to MK Community Foundation .

Donna was also able to support with sourcing amazing branded goodies for the participants to take home.

Helen community champion at Morrisons was incredible as always - hosting, helping us with venue and providing a beautiful lunch.

Amazing feedback such as one participant saying it’s the first time in a long time I have felt like me. Another participant said, it was so good to connect, share and speak with others about their cancer experience so they don’t feel so alone.

This is what these events are about.

Making a difference

Building Connections

Educating

Having fun

Letting people know they are not alone and forgotten.

AMAZING FUNDRAISING BY SARAH ROGERS

Sarah Rogers has recently completed the National Three Peaks (Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike) challenge to raise funds for The Lewis Foundation.

Sarah chose to support our charity for the following reasons:

"An amazing charity that helped my mum have brighter days and stuff to look forward to every week whilst getting her cancer treatment.

This charity brought smiles to my mum’s face on the darkest of days. To some it may seem pointless but till you’re in that situation and feel alone and scared.

The bags gave my mum something to look forward to and the volunteers were so kind and caring.

Gift packs include all sorts of things such as hygiene products, puzzle book, travel games, knickers/pants and socks, hot chocolate and coffee sachets, notebook, books and so so much more.”

Sarah raised an incredible £375, funding over 100 gifts and paying it forward to help others diagnosed with cancer. Thank you for being a part of making a difference.

Please do let us know if you are fundraising to support us, as we are proud to see people wanting to help others diagnosed with cancer.

OUR HOSPITAL VISITS MAKING A DIFFERENCE

What a joy over the last week being able to visit:

Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust - Oncology

Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - Milton Keynes Cancer Centre

Providing our wide selection of our charity The Lewis Foundation gift packs to adults diagnosed with cancer attending the hospital for treatment, appointment and admission.

Great being able to speak to the cancer patients and hospital staff.

Times are really hard for people.

As a result the number of packs we need to provide to the hospitals continues to rise to meet that demand.

This is because:

* more people are not able to afford items we provide - the toiletries, the items to pass the time like the magazines and the snack packs - food & drink treats for the patients to eat to keep them fuelled and hydrated

* the number of people being referred to the hospital continues to increase

* hospitals do not provide the essential items for the patients

That is why we ensure a stock of gifts available which patients can either access themselves on arrival or are handed out by hospital staff/volunteers.

All our gifts are to help pass the time, provide comfort and let people know we care.

That is why we do all we can to support as much as we can.

We can't do it without your help!

Help be a part of sharing the love and making a difference to the lives of those diagnosed with cancer:
