The Gus Macker basketball tournament celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Minneapolis Northwest Tourism hosts a return of this storied, outdoor community event at North Hennepin Community College August 17-18, 2024.

The Macker is a half-court pickup style game which attracts players and spectators from across the country and locally, aged 8-88. It’s good, clean, competitive fun for the sake of raising funds for non-profits in the Twin Cities that focus on youth." (via Matthew Oquist )

"The YMCA Center for Youth Voice is seeking attorney, law student, and paralegal volunteers from the Minnesota legal community to evaluate student participants from more than 20 states in Mock Trial and Appellate Court proceedings at the 2024 National Judicial Competition (NJC) July 30-31.

You will not regret investing a few hours to support some of the best and brightest high school legal minds from across the U.S.! There is no pre-event preparation needed, although evaluators will have the opportunity to attend or view a recording of a pre-competition evaluator briefing. NJC is held at the Minnesota Capitol Complex and parking reimbursement is available upon request.
