TLC 045: Talk That Talk - Communicate With Authority

Ok, this one is for the person who desires to speak with precision and accuracy.

I’ve said this before, “words are the windows through which we see the world”. This is why effective communication is an essential skill to practice and possess for success in any field.

If you are going to make an impact in your family, workplace, university, or otherwise it will involve you communicating a vision or idea in a way that others are willing to buy into.

Think for a moment, it’s tough to do just about anything without communicating.

You may say, “well, I do XYZ virtually and don’t need people for,” blah blah… we get it!

But consider this, tell me the last time you got someone to do something significant for you without communicating with them.

The point is, this skill is woven into the fabric of how and why you and I exist.

Since this is a skill, it can be obtained through practice and reflection. So, today we’re looking at one of the absolute fastest ways to become more effective in your ability to communicate.

I call this concept, the lens of opportunity.

Effective communication begins when you begin to understand that you’re not simply talking to people, rather, you’re talking to their lens.

The lens is a culmination of a person’s experiences, wins, losses, and future aspirations. In other words, the evolution of their values.

Simply put, if you can locate and identify the lens, you can move any needle you want.

Some may call this leverage, which makes sense, but I do not want to imply manipulation or trickery.
