"It's not what they call you, it's what you answer to." ~ African Proverb
In my Spring, now Summer, reading I am exploring fantasy series where I get to imagine magic as the skills and gifts we bring to the world. I noticed more often than not women were referred to as ‘Princess’ initially as a term of endearment except for one instance where one woman was referred to as ‘my Queen.’ In all three series I’m thinking of, the women ascended to become queens. That was a one- or two-step process but nothing seemed possible in the beginning.?
Career Change Reality
Yes, that is fantasy, but in a career change reality titles do matter because they explain what you do, and the type of experience you have, which guides the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and recruiters in making snap decisions.?

This is likely all things you know, and likely feel. What’s important to notice is that they also impact how you view your own status. If you think of yourself as ‘less than’ what a role needs you are likely to show up as ‘less than.’ More than is also an issue that can equate to an overqualification bias .
Think of it this way: It’s not just what they call you, it’s what you call yourself.
