There's a common phrase?echoing through our busy lives – "I have no time."
I hear it so often in my work with my potential or new clients, where people are desperately seeking solutions for weight loss, improved health, and stress reduction. But when faced with actionable steps to help reach their goals, they freeze, barricaded by the infamous "time" excuse.
One of my clients, who had just signed up for my program, displayed symptoms of this very "problem".
She was handed a short list of three achievable action items, requiring no more than five minutes of her day. And not every day, just to do ONCE!
Yet, she responded with a common?excuse - "I am in the middle of a very nasty divorce...I also have another lawsuit...mentally I don't think I can handle one more thing right now."
The word "time" is often thrown around as the ultimate villain in our lives, a convenient scapegoat for our lack of action. Yet, the harsh reality is that time is not the enemy. We are.
Unmasking The Myth
Let's clear one thing up: There is no such thing as "I have no time." It's an excuse, and a poor one at that. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. How we choose to spend it is what differentiates us.?Research?has consistently shown that time management is less about the hours at our disposal and more about our perceptions and priorities. I work with high-achieving individuals, such as successful business owners, CEOs of major companies, attorneys, medical professionals, who could easily?say "I am too busy!", and actually, they ARE BUSY. Very busy. Yet, they manage to prioritize their health and wellbeing amidst their packed schedules. This is also why they succeed in their careers and business. It is similar to the fact that a person who is a couch potato will be mostly hungry while a person who is very active will not be hungry. Meanwhile, people who certainly have more flexibility with their time, often find themselves spiraling into the "I have no time" excuse (I have better words for that but I can't write them).

The Consequence of Self-Deception
Here's the brutal truth: those who cling to the "no time" excuse are lying to themselves. They are creating a self-imposed limitation, a wall between them and their health goals. This lie transforms into a self-fulfilling prophecy, driving them into a cycle of unhealthiness that could potentially lead them to their early grave.?Studies?have linked chronic stress, often exacerbated by such self-defeating attitudes, with numerous health problems, including heart disease, diabetes, and even certain types of cancer.
Breaking the Cycle
Breaking free from this vicious cycle requires confronting the lies we tell ourselves. It requires introspection and the courage to admit that we have been choosing comfort over effort, inertia over action. And most importantly, it demands us to realize that we are worth that effort.
Remember, your health and well-being should never be relegated to the back burner. They are not just another item on your to-do list but the very foundation that allows you to tackle everything else. Whether you're in the throes of a nasty divorce, a legal battle, or any other stressful situation, taking care of yourself should be a non-negotiable priority.?Research?clearly shows that better self-care leads to improved mental and physical health outcomes.
I urge you to reflect on your life, your choices, and ask yourself - is it truly a lack of time or a lack of priority? If high-powered CEOs and busy professionals can make time, so can you. After all, health isn't a destination but a journey. And this journey requires commitment, consistency, and most importantly.
If you're offended by the written, it means you should pause and look deep into yourself. You will uncover that you've been lying to yourself for years.?
And if you need help with breaking the cycle - I am just one message away.
