In this week’s issue of Title IX Today, the 2023 Nobel economics prize is awarded to Claudia Goldin for her work on the gender pay gap. Additionally, a federal lawsuit against Baylor University , involving a former football coach and a former athletic director, moves closer to?trial. Lastly, California’s Governor signs a bill requiring?CSU to report sexual harassment cases.
The Montgomery County school system will pay $9.7 million to settle lawsuits brought by the families of four former Damascus High School junior varsity football players?who?were sexually assaulted during a violent hazing ritual.
High schools that implemented restorative discipline practices saw a notable 35% decline in student arrests at school and a 15% drop in arrests outside of school, according to a University of Chicago study analyzing a decade of data from Chicago Public Schools.
The Supreme Court declined to hear at least six cases brought against various public school entities. Cases included one against the Colorado State Board of Education and another alleging Minneapolis Public Schools violated the Americans with Disabilities Act when firing an elementary school dean who sought accommodations for his asthma.
