Dear Community,
Greetings!
Setting Sail Towards Excellence: A Reflection on Estuary '24
Recently, I had the privilege of participating in Estuary '24, the prestigious annual management fest hosted by the School of Maritime Management (SMM) at the Indian Maritime University (IMU) Chennai Campus. This two-day extravaganza, themed "Challenge. Compete. Conquer.," provided a platform for budding managers like myself to showcase our talents, network with industry leaders, and delve deep into the currents of strategic management.
Day 1: Charting the Course with Strategic Insights
The event commenced with a thought-provoking National Seminar on "Strategic Waterways and Emerging Trade Corridors in a Shifting Geopolitical Scenario." The keynote address by Mr. Parthasarathy Gopalan, Managing Director of PIL India, emphasized the critical role of strategic waterways in a dynamic global trade landscape. Eminent speakers from the maritime industry shared their expertise on various topics, including global ports, crisis-induced rerouting, and emerging trends in shipping and logistics. These insightful sessions equipped me with a deeper understanding of the complex interplay between geopolitics and global trade.

Day 2: A Battleground of Wit and Strategy
The second day transformed IMU Chennai into a battleground of wit and strategy as the Intercollegiate Management Fest kicked off. The day unfolded with a series of exciting events, from Best Manager to IPL Auction, each designed to test our business acumen and creativity. The events were a testament to the talent and ingenuity of the participating students.
Beyond the Competition: Networking and Collaboration
Estuary '24 wasn't just about competition. It fostered a sense of camaraderie and collaboration, with networking opportunities allowing us to connect with industry representatives and students from other universities. These interactions opened my eyes to potential career paths, internship opportunities, and the diverse facets of maritime management across different regions.
A Voyage of Discovery and Growth
Estuary '24 was more than just a management fest; it was a voyage of discovery and growth. The event provided a comprehensive understanding of the maritime industry, a platform to test our academic knowledge and business skills, and fostered a sense of belonging within the maritime management community. I left the event with a head buzzing with new knowledge, a heart brimming with newfound confidence, and the determination to navigate the exciting world of maritime management.
Estuary '24 embodied the spirit of excellence, leadership, and continuous learning. It was an invaluable learning experience that will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping my future career journey. As John F. Kennedy said, "Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other," and Estuary '24 perfectly exemplified this sentiment.
