Tithing

Still on the issue of Tithing

Whatever is not biblical should be jettisoned and that's my absolute view. 

Is tithing Biblical? Yes, it is and any Christian who is not paying it is only disobeying God's voice.

Did Jesus, our Lord approved payment of Tithe? Yes, he did. 

Let's read this together when Jesus was rebuking the Pharisees of His time for judging others and not showing whole love of God. 

"But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone". Luke 11:41

So, listen to our Lord...

The Pharisees gave their tithe of mint and rue and all manner of herbs.... That was commendable 

The Pharisees passed over judgment and ignored the love of God... That was condemnable.

What was Jesus's judgment?

1. They must showed love (These ought ye to have done)

2. They must pay their tithes (and not to leave the other undone).

So, they must pay their tithes, stop passing judgment on the same thing they were guilty of and then show the love of God towards others. 

Did Jesus told them or us not to pay tithe? No, He didn't.

Is there anywhere Jesus told his followers not to pay tithes? No, I have never read that in the Bible. 

Like I said elsewhere, shall we say the Biblical injunctions of tithing be jettisoned because so... so... so.. and so pastor has done somethings "wrong" in our views? The Bible is the oldest Holy Book ever given by God to men and I think we should not allow some modern theorists who are silents on high level of immoralities in our societies tell us anything contrary.

Tithe came into existence since the day of Abraham (Gen. 14: 18) even before the Law of Moses. It was adopted by the Law of Moses and supported by the Prophets and Jesus our Lord did not in any way told believers not to pay tithe.

It is another matter entirely what the said tithe is being used for. But the Bible also explained clearly what churches should use the tithe for. Maybe, I will speak on this later.
