Tired of the grind? Take a quick break!

Tired of the grind? Take a quick break!

The #REVENUECLIMBER Journal mails Thursday each week to support those of us on the self-employment journey who want a quick break rather than a long read.?

I’ve got 3 simple tips you can try right away that worked for me:

1) Read Zen Koans.

Yep. I'm serious.

It's hard to explain the power behind these simple hard to decipher phrases.

After doing this daily for 48 days something shifted inside me. It became easier to think with perspective which is hard when we work for ourselves.

Want more insight into yourself and your business? You've got to do the hard work.

2) Start your own event.

Your life will change for the better.

My first #REVENUECLIMBER Forum event was in November of 2020. Since then I've hosted hundreds of events, had over 80 guest speakers, and built a private community.

You can do this. Come up with a topic, set a date, start inviting people. Don't worry about making money.

You will build your reputation in the market, have access to an amazing array of guest speakers you would not overwise reach, and get known by prospective customers.

3) Become a generalist.

The age of specialists doesn't apply well in the world of self-employment.

It's too complex. We must become experts in our markets, not in one narrow niche domain area. This is controversial because many people teach the opposite. It's wrong.

Check out David Epstein's book for his perspective.

Start by learning more about what's happening in your market. You may end up changing your entire product lineup and moving in a totally new direction.

These 2 quotes inspired me this week:

1) “The employed are punished by having to do what they do not love. The self-employed are punished by the opposite.” Mokokoma Mokhonoan

Creating a business from something you love is like being an artist.

I'm responsible for my creation and it's going to be painful to see it attacked in a public forum or ignored by those who decide not to work with me.

My other company OppGen was born out of a business idea, not a deeper meaning and purpose.

Revenue Climber comes from a core motivating force. To succeed the quote tells me that I must lean 100% into that but at the same time separate from the output.

2) "I paid no attention to the territorial boundaries of academic disciplines and I just grabbed all the big ideas that I could." Charlie Munger?

This fits into the idea of being a generalist.

I'm pulling ideas from Jung, Ray Dalio, David Allen, Eugene Schwartz, and Buddha with impunity.

I'm an expert in finding and using whatever I need to be successfully self-employed, and helping others do the same.

Don't follow the crowd. Realize most people are going in the wrong direction.

Want a good laugh and to get a lot smarter. Listen to these guys for a few minutes.

Here’s our offer for the week!?

Join me at the weekly #REVENUECLIMBER Forum and learn how to uncover and switch off your hidden sabotaging trait.

"Becoming a generalist in a specialized niche" is an interesting topic to debate Larry.
