Today in L.A. at the Shrine Auditorium we made one of our biggest Un-carrier announcements EVER!  First, we unveiled Un-carrier X – Binge On, unleashing mobile video!  Starting November 15th, video streams free from Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Sling TV, ESPN and many more streaming services (with many more on the way)!  Binge On is (of course) available for totally FREE to all current and new Simple Choice customers on qualifying rate plans. 

Then we Amped Un-carrier 1.0 – Simple Choice!  While the other guys are doubling down on overages, we’re doubling up the data (and cutting the cost of extra gigs)!  With the new Simple Choice plans, customers get double the data of our old plans, for the same price when the whole family gets the data.  We call it Family Match – and it's our answer to those awful data sharing plans from the other guys.  And of course, now our customers' data lasts far longer with Binge On and Music Freedom.  And it's all on our Data Strong 4G LTE network, the fastest in the nation, and fastest-growing – now covering over 302 million Americans – and counting.

Un-carrier X - Binge On

Ever since the launch of Music Freedom, we’ve been asked if we could also unleash video.  Mobile video is the #1 way consumers use data on their smartphone and is projected to grow more than 4X by 2020.  Said differently, they love it and want to use more of it!  I'm happy to say our team found a way to deliver!

Binge On is powered by really cool technology built right into our network.  This technology optimizes video for mobile screens, so it is more reliable and consistent, looks great, and uses up less data!  In fact, video with Binge On will typically stream at DVD quality or better.  This allows ALL of our customers to watch up to three times more video than before on our network from "non-free" services like YouTube, Facebook Video, and Periscope.

But the big news is that customers with paid data (3GB or higher), can stream video from some of the most popular streaming services for FREE – never touching their high speed data bucket!  We are starting with 24 of the top streaming services immediately (Netflix, HBO Now/HBO Go, Hulu, Sling TV/Sling Box, WatchESPN, Showtime, Starz, Movieplex, Encore, T-Mobile TV, Vevo, Vessel, Univision Deportes, MLB, Go90, DirecTV, Fox Sports, Fox Sports Go, NBC Sports, Crackle, Vudu, Ustream).  And just like with Music Freedom, we’ll add more services over time.  We even added in AT&T’s own DirecTV service and Verizon’s Go90 (for its dozens of users J). 

Binge On also comes with a 30% discount for all Simple Choice customers on a Sling TV subscription.  Customers can go to sling.com/tmobile to learn more.

The customer has full control of Binge On at all times.  They can deactivate and reactivate the feature anytime for each person in their account via My T-Mobile (on the app or online).

Un-carrier 1.0 – Simple Choice Amped Up

This is the biggest update we’ve ever made to our Simple Choice plans!  Today, our superphone customers are averaging just over 8GB/mo in 4G LTE data usage!  A few gigs of data just isn’t enough for Families and Businesses anymore. 

Simple Choice plans still start at $50 a month, but now come with 2GB of 4G LTE data and mobile hotspot – 2X as much as before!  Additional lines also get double the data each and remain at the same price, $30 for the 2nd line, $10 for each additional line up to 12 total.  And, as always, Simple Choice customers get all the great Un-carrier benefits like Simple Global, Music Freedom, Data Stash, Mobile Without Borders, Wi-Fi Un-leashed and Binge On.  Businesses are getting their plans Amped as well and an average small business with T-Mobile can save 40% compared to AT&T and a full 50% compared to Verizon for similar services!

We also introduced Family Match to give customers who add extra 4G LTE data to each line on their account an even better price!  Double the data for the same price as before, when the whole family gets data!  Family Match is based on the huge popularity of our recent promotions that gave all lines on the account a huge data bucket.  Adding 4GB of 4G LTE data on each line (6GB total) costs just $10 more a month for each line.  Or families can pay only $20/line for an extra 8GB of 4G LTE data per line (10GB total) or $30 more per line for unlimited 4G LTE data on each line. 

And for a limited time, to celebrate this huge Un-carrier announcement, they can get that 4th line for free! That’s 4 lines with 6GB of 4G LTE data including Binge On, for only $120/month, plus unlimited video streaming from popular services.  Wow!

Unlimited Plan Improvements

And don't forget, with this launch, we're doubling down on Unlimited plans too. Not only are we doubling the mobile hotspot data from 7GB up to 14GB, we're also giving Unlimited customers who use Binge On a free movie rental from Vudu every single month in 2016!  Video from participating sites never comes from their mobile hotspot bucket, so it'll be there when they need it.  And our Unlimited plans also benefit from Family Match and Fourth Line Free. That means we're now selling Unlimited 4G LTE plans to a family of four for our lowest-ever price of $180/month. Amazing.
