Tired of Being Burnt Out and Exhausted? Do this Daily Self-Care Check List

The key to ending your burnout is simple, get a daily self care checklist.

Last year, I came across someone on social media talking about how we’ve got self care all wrong. We think of self care as the bubble baths, massages, and trips to the salon. All things that are escapes from our daily lives. This wise FB friend (Sorry, I can’t actually remember who was talking about it) shared that true self care is designing our lives in a way that we don’t need to escape from it. The day to day flow of our lives should honor and take care of us.

That rang true to me. Because, I was doing a terrible job at self care. I was burnt out, exhausted, running a million miles an hour, not sleeping well, and having way too much stress.

And it came during a perfect time, because I was really trying for the first time in my life, to learn how to take care of me.

So I shifted from weekly massages, and into daily habits. I started feeling more creative, and more at peace. I started doing things because they were fun and exciting. Not just because it seemed like the right thing to do.

I still have days where I’m tired. I haven’t unlocked the secret to having continuous peace while growing a business and raising 5 kids. I’m not sure that continuous peace exists. But what I have found, is a better flow and a lower stress level from day to day.

So here’s my daily self care checklist. Make sure you watch the YouTube video for more details!

  1. Power 30
  2. 30 minutes of journaling, meditation or prayer
  3. 30 minutes of exercise
  4. Positive Breaks: nap, meditate, play the Ukulele, go on a walk. Do something other than screen time for a break.
  5. Screen Free Zone: Shut down all screens for the first and last hour of your day
  6. Sleep- I’m not dictating the number of hours. Just enough for your body.
  7. Eat- Don’t get so busy that you forget to feed yourself and crash into a starving monster at the end of the day.
  8. I don’t work stressed. If you’re starting to get stressed, pause and de-stress. You’ll be more productive.
  9. Start/Stop: Set a start and end time to your day and honor them both!
  10. Relationship Connection: Create a meaningful connection with a loved one every day.

Daily self care is a necessary part of your success. Your daily self care checklist doesn’t have to look like mine, but I recommend you get one!
