Tips for your video call job interview
These days video call interview are becoming more common because international companies are looking for job candidates in far-off locations.
Before the interview:
1) Upload enough data on your phone or modem. 300 megabytes to be on the safe side.
2) It is more efficient to use a smartphone for a video call because most smartphones have a built-in dual camera and microphone. A laptop or PC would need a webcam and headphones microphone set. A webcams or headphone microphone sets is an unnecessary additional expense.
3) Download the relevant video call App for mobile or PC.
4) Click through the video call invite link that was sent to you by email a few minutes before the interview so you can check the audio and microphone.
5) While the App is open and ready for the call don’t lose your patience if the interviewer does not log on at the same time as you there might be a slight delay because of international time difference. Wait patiently for the interviewer to join the call.
During the interview:
6) If your interview is disconnected wait patiently for the reconnection.
7) Don’t be afraid to tell the interviewer if there is too much background noise on their side.
8) Keep your answers short and to the point.
