“I'm livin' my best life / Made a couple Ms with my best friends / Turned all my Ls into lessons.”
So starts Chance the Rapper’s intro to Cardi B’s 2018 track “Best Life.” A?couple of months earlier, Wiz Khalifa dropped a single also carrying that name. And last month, UK rapper Hardy Caprio did the same. On Instagram, the?#liveyourbestlife ?hashtag has clocked more than 865,000?posts and counting.?HuffPost ?has an entire section dedicated to the idea. “Live Your Best Life” graced?the cover ?of a September 2005 book?comprising the best articles from?O,?The Oprah Magazine.?A quick Google search of the phrase, meanwhile, delivers?6.1 billion results, including articles, books, social media accounts, and websites dedicated to helping you do just that.

Here are my tips for #liveyourbestlife as it relates to your work life

While advancing in your career is important, the way to get there is to continuously grow through experiences, mentoring and being mentored, ABC (Always Be Connecting) - like here on?LinkedIn , and?#learnbyfailing . Having a?#growthmindset ?is key. Looking to impress, and shining in front of peers and senior leadership (aka the Glow) is something that will come organically.?#helpotherssucceed ?#givecredit ?#growyourself ?and the world will be your oyster. #2 LOL - Business is often no laughing matter, especially in these challenging times. The old saying “laughter is the best medicine” has never been more relevant. With the pandemic, desires to WFH, inflation, and the pressure to deliver,?#employeewellbeing ,?#burnout , and thoughts about?#quietquitting ?are at a high. Personally I love that our team takes time to laugh, have fun, play a virtual team game every week, as well as kickoff each meeting with one “happy thing” that happened to them. I’m no Jerry Seinfeld, but work and life is a combined “show about something”. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my colleagues laugh, succeed, and have?#worklifeharmonization ?at the same time. #3 Mentor and be mentored - I’ve been fortune enough to have informally mentored many bright, hardworking and coachable professionals, who have continued on to become CMOs, CPOs and even a few CEOs in their own right. No matter what your level, your aspirations or goals, getting mentored and being a mentor is always a symbiotic relationship. I have learned just as much from those who have had confidence in me to seek my advice.?#thankyou . "You're not a high performer unless you make other people better" - Adam Grant.
