Tips on WFH effectively

Tips on WFH effectively

1 - Ensure your workspace is set up for working properly

You need an office set up that allows you to comfortably work and stay focused with limited distractions. Being infront of the tv with you laptop on your lap isn't going to be very productive and will do your back and neck no favors.

2 - Schedule your day

Make your office environment comfortable and somewhere you are going to stay focused. I'm a creature of habit so I'm always setting myself tasks and deadlines and have always planned what I want to achieve the next day before COB

  1. A structured routine helps effectively manage tasks and stay on target for deadlines.
  2. A quick Skype, Teams, WhatsApp video session in the morning with the team to map out your day can be very effective and keep you all accountable throughout the day.

3 - Avoid checking personal email or social networking sites during work hours

A serious distraction that can go by unnoticed and before you know it you've been scrolling on Insta, FB or SMH for an hour reading articles that are likely to cause more anxiety at the moment.

4 - Stay connected

  1. It's easy to lose contact. Check in with your immediate colleagues and team regularly throughout the day.

2. Don’t forget family and friends. Set aside time or use your breaks to call or text.

5 - Take regular breaks and remember to move

  1. Time away from your desk is important, especially when you’re confined to your home. Schedule regular breaks. Walk round your house whilst taking phone calls, find a surface you can work from standing up etc
  2. Exercise is a known aid in helping with the symptoms of isolation so if you are well, be sure to stay active. Incorporate stretching, yoga, dips, lunges and natural resistance exercises into your day.

This is a tough time for everyone and if you're like me and enjoy being around people and keeping active (devastated the gyms have shut) try making sure you implement some of the above into your day.

Stay kind, Stay positive - We are all in this together! x
