Tips and Tricks: Sentinel Install

Cornell is excited that so many Sentinel systems have already been ordered and successfully installed in new buildings around the country. This system is the best we have every seen in the Area of Refuge space. From voice quality to flexibility, we designed this system to be everything a building needs to communicate the means of egress for people with disability during an emergency.

However, during the installation of the system, our technical support team has found out that not every company has a laptop which is required for installation. From a simple installation to installs where everything is being programmed and changed on site, a laptop is needed. Simple installs require the system to be activated before testing and commissioning All this information is included in our install manual.

When doing a more complicated installations where the stations, off site phone number, and/or voice messages are being adjusted or programmed on site, not only is a laptop required but also internet connectivity to get the voice messages programmed. We can do this off-site as well, where the files are created and where internet connectivity is available and then the files can be brought to the site, but the best way to do this is to have internet connectivity at the site for a stress-free install.
