Fellow SF friends please feel free to add / correct me...I wrote this in 10min without proofreading since I'm not feeling 100%
P.s. I know I know...I can't help thinking and promoting our SaaS...still at least I'm gonna be generous about it! add a comment and we'll send you a FREE lifetime license or a massive discount coupon (like 90% off...from $10 to $1...yes I'm feeling like Santa Claus giving makes me feel so good!)
- Plan plan plan…everything. Start a #linkedin outreach as soon as possible to try to organize as many meetings as possible.?
- Make sure your Linkedin profile has at least 500+ connections and looks professional enough. Curate your company Linkedin pages.
- Use Calendbook or similar to allow others to book you calendar or give them some of your availabilities or ask for similar booking Links
- Have your pitch deck ready and create separate links with Sharedocview.com so you know exactly who opened which link where
- Generally I’d recommend to Go to SF when your startup is mature enough since while there is a lot of funding there is also a lot of noise
- In US less people use Whatsapp, be ready to use iMessage, Facebook Messenger
- Try to go to SF when some major events are happening (though of course we gotta still be careful due to COVID)
- Connect with people from your own country since they might be able to help more (sometimes…not true for all cultures) as well as with locals
- Don’t miss spending days at Stanford and breathing the air of what I believe is the best university in the world…also called the “Country Club”
- Europeans can stay in SF with their ESTA for 3 months I’d recommend staying almost 3 months (avoid staying 90 days…do a few days less) so that you can make the most of it. Of course there are financial issues related to that as SF is one of the most expensive places in the world. Maybe try to find a cheaper place connected to Bart (local train) in Oakland or somewhere else outside SF downtown. Though SF downtown is where more and more startup magic has been accumulating, especially for seed stage companies so you might want to look for some of those co-living places where they cram dozens of entrepreneurs on bunk beds.
Have fun, good luck and Enjoy California…it’s amazing!
p.s. Make sure you go visit LA, San Diego and Vegas while you are there.
