TIPS on Responsible and Authentic Leadership, People, Culture and Grit

Responsible and Authentic Leadership, People, Culture and Grit is what we need now, even more so than ever. We lead through example, through our actions that align with what we say. We need our people to see we have their back.

Our actions today will determine our future so let's look inwards and identify how we can be part of the change we so desperately want to see in others.

If at any moment you have wanted your Managers, your Executives or even your Peers to find a voice to support you, you can lead the way by showing them how.

RECIPROCITY is a powerful tool.

RECIPROCITY is the key that enables those around us to act in "like ". 

So, whilst you may think others have the power, the reality is that you can manage and control the outcome by LEADING the way. That is how we manage POWER.

DON’T FOLLOW the “GRIND”. DON’T use language that you hear other use. If it does NOT elicit the best outcome for those around you, CHANGE the course. CHANGE the dialogue.

Today is the time for you to create a NEW way to deliver.

We are currently experiencing CHANGE like we have never EXPERIENCED before, but that does not mean we should hold back. 

Today your people need to see that they are recognised for their efforts. Those milestones, those KPI's, those KRA's they all need to be recognised. Out with the old and start the recovery process by leading with a new Vision.

RESPOND in the NOW. HOW YOU RESPOND reflects the person you are. Are you strong enough to say, MY PEOPLE NEED TO BE RECOGNISED... LET ME SHARE SOME TIPS ON HOW YOU CAN LEAD THE WAY…….

RECOGNISE YOUR PEOPLE FOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING….

  • For being on the front line.
  • For continuously stepping up.
  • For relentlessly showing up.
  • For having your back.

You see; TODAY is not about “sales” KPI’s. TODAY is about how your people have turned up and supported you to achieve your goals in keeping the business open. In talking and listening to your clients. In setting their personal struggles aside to keep things moving forward. In skipping lunch. In sitting at their desk, dinning table or bedroom for hours every single day because that is what we needed them to be doing.

If your people are shinning, it's time to recognise them despite whatever ELSE is going on.

As a Manager, As a Leader.... they need to know YOU ARE THERE FOR THEM.

Cutting a meeting short that was dedicated to listening to them is not acceptable, NO MATTER WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON FOR YOU. This was their time, so give them the attention that they deserve. 

STOP and LISTEN so you understand what is happening for them. Listen because those LOYAL people need to be heard and most likely they are building the courage to let you know what's going on for them. They too are busy and juggling... 

WE NEED TO VALIDATE EVERYTHING THAT THEY ARE EXPERIENCING. 

When we can walk in their shoes, and understand what they are telling us about their experiences, we develop TRUST. TRUST needs to be earned. 

GO AGAINST THE GRAIN... MAKE TIME FOR YOUR PEOPLE. Without THEM, you merely have "products" and "processes" . There is no BUSINESS.... WHAT CULTURE?

If your PEOPLE DESERVE the accolades..... then CALL IT OUT.... RECOGNISE THEM. It does not need to be an old KPI that was on a JD. That was the old....this is now and you are RESPONDING to the NOW.

When we talk about ACHIEVEMENTS, it inspires others. We create a path for others to follow. 

MORE SO NOW THAN EVER, WE NEED TO LEAD OUR PEOPLE BY RECOGNISING THE SMALL THINGS and REMAINING CONSISTENT IN SHOWING THEM THAT THEY MATTER.

Creating IMPACT in small bursts will keep YOUR PEOPLE, YOUR TRIBE MOVING FORWARD WITH YOU.

THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO HIDE BEHIND KPI's that are not achievable in today's market. RESPOND..... and adapt and create new BENCHMARKS so that your people know you can see the things they are doing TODAY matters and that they are achieving things that is keeping YOUR BUSINESS GOING....

Lets be the change that we want to see in the world.
