Q: Reasons for low power generation

A: There are many reasons for low power generation, including weather, temperature, shading, inverter, panel orientation, panel angle, etc.

  • Weather: Fog, rain, clouds, and bad weather can all cause low power generation.
  • Temperature: High or low temperatures can reduce the panels' efficiency and power generation.
  • Shading: First, check the site environment, including trees, utility poles, water tanks, clothing, bird droppings, and the distance between panels. Once the panels are covered, it reduces the efficiency of the entire system.
  • Panels: Connecting different solar panels to the exact string is not allowed. Note that a damaged battery panel will significantly reduce the power generation of the entire system. Replace damaged panels immediately.
  • Panel Orientation: Check that the orientation is at the optimum angle. Generally speaking, the highest point of solar power generation is from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
  • Inverter: Once an inverter crashes, it will not generate electricity. Please check the working status of the inverter.
  • Grid: Grid voltage/frequency fluctuation can happen frequently, reliable grid quality is one essential condition to ensure the inverter works smoothly, so please notice that grid fluctuation and frequency fluctuation may all affect the inverter’s power generation, even can cause inverter error, also nearby high-power consumption can affect the inverter’s power generation.

Q: Why is inverter ventilation important?

A: The inverter is a high-power electronic device, and the internal temperature is easy to heat up. Sustained high temperatures can cause cumulative damage to components. At the same time, it will cause to reduce the load output and the power generation of the inverter. Once the temperature rises further and exceeds the threshold, the over-temperature protection will be triggered, causing the device to shut down.

Therefore, it is substantial to install the inverter in a well-ventilated place. Moreover, during power plant maintenance, make sure that the cooling fans are running well, that the fan blades are not damaged, that there is no dust buildup, and that the bearings are well lubricated. A well-ventilated inverter running at normal temperature can greatly extend its service life and also help to improve conversion efficiency and power generation.

Q: Is it normal for the temperature on the back of the inverter to be high when it is working?

A: Yes. Since the entire inverter dissipates heat through the radiator on the back, it can only operate normally when the heat dissipation is normal, which is generally within 60°C. Otherwise, the inverter will operate at reduced load.

When installing the inverter, it should be placed in a cool and ventilated place, avoiding sunlight.

Q: How can I connect the inverter to my computer directly?

A: There are 3 steps.

  1. Connect the inverter to the computer RS232 port via the RS232 port (WIFI plug port) of the inverter. if not equipped with RS232, a device of USB-to-232 converter is needed.
  2. Make sure the PIN connection is correct.
  3. Set device address and parity type (no parity check) via software.
