Many people look at conversion rate optimization as only AB testing and making small adjustments to increase sales. Sure, that’s part of it, but you need a good foundation first. For me, the highest priority for optimizing for conversions is building trust with your brand and telling your story. Everything else can come after that.?

Here are 10 things our team does when optimizing storefront for conversions, and you can start applying them today.?

  1. Payment Options. Offer a variety of payment options, but not too many. According to a study by Baymard, 69% of shoppers abandon their carts if they don't see a payment method they normally use. Make sure to offer various payment options, including credit cards, ShopPay, debit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay.
  2. Use high-quality product photography. Content is king. Ensure your product photos are clear, well-lit and show the product from multiple angles. Video on the PDP is also a huge plus. 90% of shoppers say product photos are important to their purchase decision.
  3. Clear Product Descriptions. Your product descriptions should be clear, concise, and detailed. They should tell shoppers what the product is, what it does, and why they need it. Including model size, fabric, material, specific colors, and even pairing recommendations can help increase purchases.
  4. Offer free shipping or low shipping rates. Shipping is one of the most significant pain points for online shoppers. Free or low shipping rates can help you reduce cart abandonment and increase conversions. ShipStation is a great product that can help you calculate and track shipping rates.
  5. Tell your Story. People are more likely to buy from brands they connect with personally. Tell your brand story on your website and marketing materials. This will help you build trust and credibility with potential customers.
  6. Sell the solution. People don't buy products; they buy solutions. Make sure your products solve a real problem for your customers. This will help you create a compelling value proposition that drives conversions.
  7. Know your customer. The more you know about your target audience, the better you can market to them. Research your target audience's demographics, interests, and pain points. This will help you create content and marketing campaigns that resonate with them.
