Tips for Inventor No: 52/52

Tips:-

The country needs you. When you are successful, naturally the country becomes successful too.

Essence:-

The journey of an inventor is long and hard. It involved treading into unknown sphere. It is a risky business and time-consuming. The chance of failure far exceeds the chance of success. However, upon success, the commercial gain can be significant and the joy is immense

?The Country Needs You

This is my last article for the series of Tips for Inventor. I'm glad that you have travelled this journey with me. If you have already developed an invention, then I would like to congratulate you. And if you have already formed a start-up company to commercialize your product, then I would like to shake your hands and say “Well done mate!” But if you have yet to create an invention, I hope this series of tips have shed some lights. Hope these 52 articles have given you some kind of headway in this game

In the ranking for innovative countries around the world, Malaysia is ranked number 35 in the year 2017. This shows that there are still a lot of rooms for improvement. The government has taken the lead to include Innovation as a National Agenda in 2010. The aim is to turn Malaysia into an "Innovation led Economy". If the government, the corporate players, the universities and the financial sector sync with the same music, then there is a good chance that we can achieve this goal. Off course ordinary folks on the street should also join in to give it a go. Together we can thrust this country ahead of others in this competitive world through innovation.

In my doctoral study, my research was on the Malaysia Innovation System. In my research, I've found out that when a country is innovative, that country has a high chance of becoming a rich nation. My research study has shown that 86% of the top wealthy nations in the world are also innovative countries. So it has proven that when a country progresses and has made development through innovation, that country will leap into the bracket of a high-income nation

Incidentally, if you check the Transparency International listing of corrupted practice, you will also note that the same innovative countries are also listed amongst the countries that are the least corrupted. An innovative country enjoyed high-income status. And when a nation is rich, the people do not need to resort to corrupt practice. Malaysia is currently ranked at number 62 on the corrupted list. But I believe that if our country can thrive on innovation, then we can improve the ranking

Malaysia has been trapped in the middle-income bracket for a long time. So it's time for us to move up the ladder. Currently, our GDP per capita is USD 12,109.50 (2018). I hope we can further push it to USD 15,000 over the next few years. And by being a high income nation we can eradicate poverty and alleviate the suffering of the bottom poor. Everyone deserves a better life.

Gen X, Y, and Z are bought-up with much care. Materials are provided to this group of youngsters in abundance. But that doesn't mean this kind of comfort living last forever. I hope you have already understood that everything in life changed. Bosses in a company changed. Value of Ringgit changed. Price of oil changed. Price of roti canai also changed. Your friends changed. Your working colleagues changed. Everything around you changed from time to time. Therefore, unless you changed along, otherwise you are left behind in the cold. Please remember the only thing that is constant is change.

The way business is done today is free with ample of opportunities. The sky is your limit if you are up for it. You are at the right place and the right time for innovation. You do not need to go very far because right now we are in the vortex of the digital evolution

You have seen many inventors and entrepreneurs became successful. And you wished to be like one of them. This is normal and in fact I encourage you to look up at them as your role model. They are successful because they worked very hard work and also possessed a few special skills that made them different from others. You too can be like them if you try hard enough to learn the finer skills from them.

Trying hard is an easy word to say. But in reality, there is a lot more depth in it than just giving it a go. In your journey to become a successful technopreneur, you will face many roadblocks. You will hit many walls. You will be stabbed many times. You may even lose your vehicle. You will lose your bearings in life. But I hope you practice patience and perseverance. Stay focus and build your project towards your objectives that you have set out to do. Get-up each time you are knocked down. Please remember the 4D formula which I've shared with you – Determination, Dedication, Destination, and Discipline. Use it when your house is on fire or when your wallet is empty.

When you have a dream, you stay with your dream even though you are cash trapped or at the edge of a cliff. Look for answers within your conscience. Look hard for that crack-line on the wall. The solutions are around you if you follow your heart

Lastly, I sincerely wish you all the best in your undertaking. May you find success in your business. May you also find joy and happiness with your working colleagues. Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness. The country needs you. When you are successful, naturally the country becomes successful too.

Too bad then, that the country won't help us get there with financial support!
