If you want to be fully prepared for the interview, keep reading this article and you will get a few tips on how to prepare yourself and how to behave in the interview so will land that dream job. Let’s pretend that you got that phone call and the Recruiter invites you for an interview. Please have in mind that you have achieved half of the way to your goal of getting the job. If nobody is interested in you and your experience, you would never get that call. At the end of the phone call, ask questions like “What should I prepare for the interview?”.That way you will show that you are interested in the company.
If you can’t attend the interview or get sick please call and ask for rescheduling. Have in mind that this will make a good impression that you don’t want to waste both side's time.
Now, do you remember the first time that you went on an interview and sat on that chair, probably your hands started to sweat or your feet started to shake? Yes this is the pressure you are 100% nervous about. You want to make a good impression, don’t worry be calm, try to imagine that this interview is not that important, and try to think before you talk and act. When the interview starts and the questions come one after another you need to show that you can speak clearly and you are not nervous. Your ability to communicate is very important. Somewhere was written that people who are smiling more attract good vibes.
Don’t forget to smile.
Have in mind that if the Recruiter sees that you are nervous, you will become like a trap gazelle in a cage with a lion.
If you think that you have given wrong answers to the questions asked by the Recruiter, try to remember them, write them down after the interview on a piece of paper and try to answer them in the afternoon when your mind is clear and you don’t feel that stressed. A lot of time recruiters ask the same questions. I do too. Chances are high that you will come across similar questions in future interviews.
For example:
“Why do you want to work here?”
The best way to prepare for this question is to learn about the products, services, mission, history, and culture of the company. In your answer, mention the aspects of the company that appeals to you and aligns with your career goals.
“What are your greatest strengths?”
This question allows you to talk about both your technical and soft skills. When you have been asked to describe your strengths, share qualities and personal attributes and then relate them to the role for which you’re interviewing.
These are examples of what questions you can be asked. You can find a lot of examples on the internet.
Have you encounter the phrase “fit for a company”
“fit”-What does fit mean?! How well of a match you are going to be for the specific team, department, and company that you are applying for. It is a cultural, personality or technical skills fit.
For this particular type of job, what fits the personality, the type of individual that is the company looking for? Try to find out. Research it.
Stay opened. As you do these interviews, you may discover that the “practice” company is actually interesting after all. Recruiters count on that. I’ve had recruiters suggest an interview even when I told them I didn't find the company interesting. “Maybe you’ll change your mind after seeing us up close”, they will suggest or something like that. Don’t forget that practice helps. Even when you have decided that you are not interested in this company or the job anymore. Remember more interviews are more knowledge, so you are invited to an interview that you are not that excited about.GO! There you will receive practice, you will feel comfortable to ask questions that you have not asked in a previous interview or you are too stressed to ask. In the future when you are asked a challenging question you could grin and delight and answer the questions more easily and you will stop worrying about how badly it would reflect.
The day has come, the day of the interview. Remember to be on time, nobody likes when you are late. Be dressed professionally. When the Recruiter asks you “tell me about yourself?” have in mind that nobody wants to know how many pets do you have? , or where you live? and stuff like that. We as recruiters want to know your professional experience and how did you get in your career so far. Do a little research about the company and be prepared to be asked questions like” How did you hear about us?” or “What do you know about us?”This will give the recruiter a sense that you are interested in the position of the company. A lot of recruiters ask the question about the salary. Be prepared to give an exact number. This will leave the taste that you know your price. And yes you got a price everyone has. You are no charity organization. After your interview, you should prepare to follow up. Doing so reminds the Recruiter of your conversation, shows that you are genuinely interested in the position and you allow bringing up points you forgot to mention. Ask when to expect a positive or negative answer.
I can't cover everything but if you follow these tips will do just perfect. I can give you tips but I can’t tell you everything let’s not forget I am still on the judging side and I can’t show you how I put the rabbit in the hat :)I magician never give up his secrets.
Remember, keep smiling and stay calm. This is the key.
