“Posts with educational content on LinkedIn are SO LONG AND DRY! ???? How do we make them more attractive?”
This question was asked recently in one of my LinkedIn trainings, and it’s one I hear a lot! Long content can be great for increasing your audience’s dwell time on a post, but they’re only going to stick around if the content is engaging!
Luckily, there are a few tricks you can employ to make your “long, dry” educational content post more visually appealing, and keep people reading right through to the end of your post. ????
? Tips for keeping your longer posts more appealing: ?
? Edit and keep only what you need. I’m actually terrible at this… but there are many who are quite skilled at editing. Perhaps your post needn’t be “long” to begin with? Just because we have 3000 characters per post doesn’t mean we need to use them all….? If your sweet spot is 1000 characters, stick with that! The content will speak for itself and create great momentum on its merits, not on its length.
? Insert carriage returns
…and emojis ??????????
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
And other text functions to break up the copy. It keeps the eye moving down the post ?? and eliminate the need to jump ship from text boredom.
? Accompany your post with a carousel (here's a post that uses a carousel as an example.) It breaks your text up into simple visuals. Easy to digest for the reader.
? Include an application - telling stories can be a powerful way to engage with your audience, and including how they can apply the lessons to their own life is an even better way! Invite them into the story and give them tactical ways to improve their own story.
? Include an invitation to engage - call it a call-to-action, a discussion starter, etc. - move your static educational post into a dynamic conversation by inviting people to respond.
How about it, team? How do YOU put more jazz into your educational posts?
Here's to your LinkedIn success, ????

My inspiration for this week’s blog post? Something I hear over and over again….
?? “I don’t see the value in LinkedIn, I scroll the news feed every day and I don’t get anything out of it.” ??
I’ve heard this oh so many times…. and it breaks my heart. ??
Many LinkedIn users find themselves endlessly scrolling through the news feed, and then comment that there is little value on LinkedIn. ?? And listen, I was right there with you! It wasn’t that long ago that I just didn’t “get it”.
But then, I took some simple tiny actions… and those actions snowballed into more actions.? And now, not only do I see the IMMENSE value in the platform, but my personal brand has skyrocketed me to opportunities I never even dreamed of! ??
So if you’re still not seeing value in the platform, let’s take some baby steps together:
?? Let’s start by updating your settings to allow everyone into your network
?? Let’s listen in, and provide valuable insights in your favourite LinkedIn group
?? Let’s connect with some relevant industry folks, to start learning from them (and getting on their radar!)
This week’s post goes over ??10 Ideas?? you can start using today, to enrich your LinkedIn experience, and keep you from mindlessly scrolling the feed.
So tell me, now that you’re here, what do you plan on doing with LinkedIn today? ??
