Tips, Hints and Insights into all things data..

Hello everyone,

Alongside the regular?#priortothepresent?articles delving deeper into areas of all things data I wanted to highlight quick tips, hints and insights into our wonderful industry all to try and help you hire.

Should I stay or should I go?

Insight - After completing 6 months in a pure candidate side delivery role I noticed a recent change in motivation from candidates in why they wanted to leave. Before it was salary, working from home etc. But now that's a given its, vision, leadership, company values, the actual role and of course purpose. When asking what is motivating you to move to a new role? 'Exciting tech, ambition, visionary leadership, doing good came up much more and often before, increased salary. Most people will receive a pay rise if they move or accept a counter offer so its seems the shift to other motivators is becoming more prominent.

Hint - Can you answer the question, why should someone leave a very good role to join us? 25 days holiday, good culture, half decent tech stack isn't cutting it anymore I'm afraid. Create exciting, day in the life type job specs or descriptions with snippets into the dream role on offer.

Tip - Get the company cheerleaders or senior leaders in the interview process as quickly as possible. Make the interview process heavily two way and facilitate questions that the candidate may want to know.

A visionary and ambitious leadership team is sometimes all it takes!
