Today I decided to discuss change. This can be a difficult subject for some, and it can come very easily for others. One of the concepts I have tried to show others is how we can leverage changes in our lives and careers. As most of you know we travel professionally, and for personal enjoyment. We have done this domestically within the United States and around the world. So change has been an ongoing part of my mindset, and that of my family.
This ongoing career of travel and personal travel has impacted how we view the world, and how we use information today to mitigate the impact of change or how we use this to our benefit long term. Here is a short list of items we always keep in mind, and what we strive to do long term.
- The world is not as scary as people think. Yes, the danger is real anywhere and we can mitigate that. However fear is a choice and a strong emotion. This has always been used as a psychological control point over people in general and should be put back into perspective quickly so you can make sound decisions.
- Mitigating the impact of change is possible if you take the time and effort to consider where things are going within your career, and the countries you live, in, and travel to.
- Planning your future with goals, and writing them down. This is done at many companies but should also be done within your personal life. By doing so you strive to achieve very specific things that could impact you later in life. I person with a written goal is ten times more like to be successful at that written goal.
- Living, and breathing your goals is an actionable process you put yourself through each and every day. For example one of my personal goals is to keep updated on geo-political situations around the world, and how they will impact my family and investments. To do this each evening I read articles, books, and research papers on various subjects.
- Keep a diary of your observations in everyday life and major events. Because in doing so you will begin to see patterns in everything going on around you, and at an international stage.
In conclusion, I would like to ask others to comment on specific things they do in life that help them handle or prepare for changes they see coming. For keeping calm, level-headed, and my emotions in check have always served me well during difficult times.
