Tips for Flawless Website UX

Tips for Flawless Website UX

Ever wondered what exactly a flawless website UX implies? We usually think of website design in terms of aesthetics: style guides, colours, font families, images, shapes, and animation. However, website design and redesign encompass far more than just the visual aspects.

Let's look at 6 different Website UX Tips to see how you can improve your workflow. Learn how to improve the usability and user experience of your website.

1. Less is More

Most website visitors are uninterested in technical terms and lack the time to read a long proposition. Keep your content brief and to the point. Avoid using heavy industry-related jargon in your content as well. Anticipate: "How can I make it simple for a user to find the information they need?".

When it comes to colours, less is always more. To achieve perfect harmony, the 60-30-10 rule states that three colours should be used in varying degrees (60 per cent, 30 per cent, and 10 per cent). You can go beyond three, but we wouldn't recommend going beyond four or five.

Limit yourself to two or three font families and sizes as well. One for the majority of the content on the site, and another for the headers. Simply ensure that the font is easy to read, regardless of what you choose. White space is okay to use on your website as well.

2. Plan for Success

Planning for success is a great way to approach designing your website, but having a contingency plan is the way to go.

Our job is to follow the path that our users want to take, not the path that we have created. So, when designing your website, think about your user's journey and the desired outcomes:

  • What is this and what does it do? (usefulness)
  • What can I do with it? (easy navigation & usability)
  • Why should it matter to me? (desirability)

3. User Connection is Important

So, how do you make an emotional connection with your site visitors? First and foremost, avoid using a passive tone within your content. Instead of "Please wait, your order is being processed," or "Your message has been submitted," you could say "Please wait, your order is being processed. Thank you”. Rewriting the sentence to make it sound more human will make your customer feel more at ease on your site.

Use “emotive” visuals to help people connect with your business. Use an effective call to action to compel your visitors to take thoughtful action. Options include “learn more”, “discover”, and “contact our expert team”.

4. Test. Test. Test.

In business, we all tend to we many hats and work on multiple projects at any one given time. It's easy to get caught up in the process of "going with the flow” approach, which can lead to us forgetting key details.

You must conduct thorough post-deployment testing and collect customer data via heat maps, surveys, and recordings to see how your visitors are truly engaging with your site. This information will assist you in giving your audience what they want and improving your site's conversion rate. Conversion page A/B testing can help you fine-tune your customer journey and improve results.

5. Use Responsive Design

According to the studies conducted by Review42, 70% of the searches made on mobile phones lead to online action. Nothing is more aggravating than visiting a website on your phone or iPad and discovering that the functionality is limited, or the design is poor. As a result, make sure your website is compatible with as many devices and browsers as possible.

6. Continue Learning

It's critical to keep your portfolio up to date with your best work and case studies, whether your website is generating new leads or maintaining existing relationships. Consider listening to podcasts, attending webinars, or taking leading UX design courses every so often to stay up to date on the latest developments in UX. Keep a close eye on your competitors as well, while you are continuing to learn.
