Engineering tasks! The biggest question right now is how do I ensure that the team works together and every member of the team remains active and contributes towards the betterment of the company. Working in teams is a fantastic experience and can be highly effective if the team members are cooperative, supporting and collaborative. ? Collaborative communication- Lack of communication remains a big problem in workplaces and large companies which work at offices around the globe. One effective tool is a collaborative communication tool such as Microsoft teams,slack,skype,zoom chat etc which can help team members reduce time on email chains and get them cracking at tasks to help take things forward. Digital communication tools and platforms will go a long way in making communication easier

? Expertise and knowledge- A team generally consists of both experienced and early career engineers setting up a knowledge transfer routine between them. An effective employee not only works together and knows the scope of their work but goes above and beyond in training early career engineers. Learning and picking up new skills and expertise is very important. This includes reading reference material, attending conferences and broadening one’s knowledge in the field over the course of time.

? Being respectful- Building a strong, healthy working relationship with colleagues is essential. This involves maintaining professionalism and being courteous to other team members. Being a good team player involves a lot of work ethic and involvement but being one benefits the company, co-workers and the community.

? Don’t play the blame game- Blaming others for a group failure isn’t a good idea. Pointing fingers makes one look bad in front of their colleagues. Instead follow a courteous approach to disagree and suggest new ideas. Supporting one another on a team is extremely important and it is always a good idea to consider team members’s ideas which will help work more effectively as a group

? Get Involved- Last but not the least get involved. Share suggestions, ideas with team members and take time to help them, particularly early career engineers.
