This week’s lesson goes over how to best make use of the creative mode on LinkedIn. One of the best ways to make use of it is to set up and make a profile video. The YouTube video “EIGHT LinkedIn Cover Story Video EXAMPLES [Video Marketing Success Secret]” goes over tips on how to make the most of making a cover story video, or profile video.?
Profile videos can currently only be added through the mobile LinkedIn app. You can film the video on the app, but you can also upload a video from your device. Matt, the creator of the video, provides multiple tips that will make you stand out in your video. One of my favorite tips was to set up captions. This allows for your video to be more accessible and consumable to more users. Another tip that I liked was to create movement in the first three seconds of the video to capture people's attention and this can be easily accomplished with the wave of a hand. One last tip that stood out to me was when recording a video and you run out of time while speaking, it is okay to cut out the part where you introduce yourself and the part where you talk about your accolades. This information can easily be seen from the top of your profile page where the cover video is located anyways, so skipping out on this information is a good suggestion.?
Matt provides examples of some of the best cover videos and they all have one thing in common that makes their videos successful. This common factor is actually the “Video Marketing Success Secret,” as mentioned in the video title. The secret to success is to find creative ways to put your personality into your content. All the video examples highlighted each person’s personality creatively from including their cute pets into the video to speaking in warm and inviting tones. Everyone’s video was unique to the creator and helped highlight their message to the viewer.?

When making my own video, I approached it by making it more casual and inviting. I considered and used many of the tips the video creator used such as adding captions, adding a sort of hand movement at the beginning, and instead of skipping my full introduction, I simply shortened it and said my first name only. The tips truly helped me make a quick 30-second video that is to the point and not boring. Once the video is ready and approved, I will be sharing it with you all!?
This week at my internship:
Last week I had a meeting with one of my supervisors where we went over the progress of our designs and was provided with feedback. This week I was able to use this feedback to make and edit these new designs.?For this week's meeting, it looks like I made the right changes based on the positive feedback I received. Even then, there are still changes to be made and I am excited to keep developing these designs. This week I also chose the topic for my research project for this semester. The topic is related to the CSAW project I am a part of and will highlight Mexican-American history and will allow me to further collect documentation or oral history and make it accessible to all by translating it from Spanish to English. I am excited to see what I might contribute to the region's history.
