I don’t know how you feel about it but December can be a very stressful month!
Sometimes I feel like this ??:
We need to finish so many things at work before everyone goes on holiday… ??
We need to plan Xmas / buy gifts / attend school events… ??
We cheer at many Xmas Apero at work and with friends ??
WE - JUST - HAVE - A - LOT!!!
Let me share with you some tips on how to finish the year with more happiness
?? 1 - Ask yourself: How do I feel this month??
Lately, I have been asking the question "Xmas is coming, how do you feel about it?" in one of my webinars and here are the answers:
It's important to know how we feel, it's helping us to face these emotions with a more rational mindset.
?? I challenge you to ask this question to your partner / family / friends
–> you might not be the only one feeling that way,
-> you might even realize: you can adapt a few things to make the situation better?
Expressing our feelings helps us to own them and to get through them with less intensity
?? By the way!?
To boost our positive emotions, I created a Happitude Advent Calendar with inspirational actions to do in December - have a look at the ones already posted and follow me to get tips until Dec 24th.
?? 2 - Reflect on your 2022 happy moments at work
Reflecting on our achievements and highlights of the year is a great way to “digest” the year, feel successful, valued and boost our self-confidence!?
Think about:
?? 3 - Express what are you saying goodbye to in 2022
The end of the year is as well a great way to let go and accept!
Reflect on:
for example, it could be:
-> "feeling of being a perfectionist"
-> "not good enough"

-> a project that didn’t go well and got on your nerves way too much
-> "financial worry"
-> "too much pressure"
-> negative behaviors you had and wished you acted differently
?? 4 - Imagine your 2023 in a SMART way
Planning the next year is not about expressing our new resolutions that we won’t be able to maintain.?
80% of New Year's resolutions fail by the beginning of February
I’m not a big fan of resolutions!?
Setting goals is important but you have to do it properly.
Goal-setting in psychology is an essential tool for self-motivation. It gives meaning to our actions and the purpose of achieving something higher.
I personally prefer to set my goals by imagining what kind of person I want to be in 2023
?? For example, the following questions might help you to set your goals and vision for next year:
?? Then, use the SMART framework to achieve your goals?
Setting goals properly helps trigger new behaviors, helps to focus and to sustain that momentum in life.
At the end, even if December can be stressful. Remember to:
Christmas is also a great way to spend time with our loved ones, do things that make us happy, eat good food, take time for ourselves, watch Xmas feel-good movies...
Enjoy the small things that matter!
Wishing you all a wonderful & happy Christmas
