?Customer Contribution to Product Management

Key Takeaways:

We have discussed diverse random topics that every product team member requires to master. There are many more to consider and reflect on. These are my stories which, during our coaching conversation, appeared.

? We need to live the life of the customer to find out their needs. The more we pay attention to them, they will come to us again and again. We exist if they embrace us.

? We cannot assume anything. We need to go out and discover those.

? Once we identify the need perfectly, then only we can serve them effectively

? They want the same service the way I want to get the service. This service cannot be copied from others.

? They do not care about us, as they have other options; we have to be vigilant about that. Our competitors are one mouse click away.

? An unhappy customer can tell us a lot about our product improvement

? It is better to give more than said. We have to be innovative to be ahead of the time and inspire customers with our awesome service.

? When talking to the customer, it is better to listen as many people are missing this art. When customers realize that you are taking care of them, they will tell more from their hearts. It is worth listening to them than investing a lot in an advertisement.

? Our offering vs the customer needs must converge at the appropriate point, if they do not match the customer does care how much you know.

? Customers supply oxygen to our business.

Technology Contribution to Product Management:

We have discussed diverse random topics that every product team member requires to master. There are many more to consider and reflect on. These are my stories which, during our coaching conversation, appeared.

Key Takeaways:

? We need to understand that technology is a broad landscape, and it can solve infinitely complex problems if we know how to manage the technology landscape

? It is the individuals behind the scenes who develop technology, and if we do not amend with technology, we as an individual become obsolete

? Technology can rapidly automate the work to make individuals more efficient

? We need to be quick in implementation from idea to working software; the speed we traverse from idea to working software will mark our success

? The code we write at the end will be approved by the user if they are eager to pay for it! Better to validate the code well ahead.

? As long as we are picking up complaints from the users, it shows we are in the business! So, keep an eye on improvement to satisfy the end user's needs.

? It is straightforward to fix technical glitches, but troublesome to fix the toxic culture

? Technology deployment is complex affairs; the only way we can surmount these challenges is to slice and strike the problem in a small chunk.

? Technology can solve any problem, as long as we figure out what problem to solve, for that we require to iterate problem-solution to the problem space and reform progressively. This is an outstanding approach if we can drive all the energy in that direction. It is not straightforward; everyone is seeking to master this art.

? The process is not just the total of all the parts!

? Deming said eighty-five percent of the reasons for failure were deficiencies in the systems and process rather than the employees. The role of management is to change the process rather than badgering individuals to do better. We need to be innovative in the process creation for better product development endeavors.

? Let us focus on valued added activities and get rid of overhead

? The team needs to sync, align, and collaborate on a constantly changing plan

? The more experiments we do with end-users to build the product, the less costly the product development will be

? Process maturity does not help if products are not selling or if customers are not responding to us

? Sometimes processes need to be forced on team members; most of the time processes are driven by the team
