Tips For Being An Awesome Writer

“Writing + Problem Solving = Better Communication.”

Matthew J Gaydos

I hope all of you are having a Blessed Day and are making the most of it. Writing and Problem Solving are not easy crafts to Master.

Just read some of what my connections produce. That content or copy, did not come easy to my connections or myself.

They have a passion about what they produce. Their passion is like mine, Adding Value to your “Daily Life.”

Daily, I add value in my life. To paraphrase Daniel Ally, I work hard on my Goals and Dreams.

Daily, adding Value to your life is what it is about. Gaining new Skills and Insights by Reading and applying what you read to your life. You will gain so much more Value in your life.” Matthew J Gaydos

The way to become a better writer is to keep writing. Journal every day or at least write in some form daily.

I write, read and take notes in some form daily.

These last two will help you in your craft to become a better writer.

Creating a Thesis or Premise.

Another way to develop good writing is for you to create a Thesis or Premise about your writing.

Write it down and titrate it in your mind, on paper, or draw it out. You can flush out in outline form supporting details about the premise.

The premise is what you will explain in the following paragraphs.

Remember this outline is your own. No one will see it except the people whom you choose to.

This outline works well for me and many others I have seen on LinkedIn.

If you use LinkedIn correctly and titrate what your connections are saying, a free flowing river of knowledge will occur for you. It does to me.

It might not be your finished product. So what, it is your thoughts and outline!

I have found that doing outlines, even for presentations, is best for me.

Storytelling.

Writing and Storytelling go together like a “Fluff and Nutter” sandwich. When you are a good storyteller you become a better writer.

It is just that simple.

This storytelling, helps your mind by expanding it. Storytelling forces you to use your mind muscles that have laid dormant.

President Abraham Lincoln was not that good at storytelling. Then one Day in the year of 1838, he and friends started to debate different ideas by a wooded fire.

President Lincoln was not a good storyteller.”

How about this. Lincoln gets better at storytelling by how he learned to read; by

A Wood Fire

Abe practiced and practiced. Nothing that is worth wild will come easy. Whether it be Being an Entrepreneur, Storytelling, Book Reviews (which I love doing) or Writing.

Even when life threw Abe curve balls, he never gave up. Abe only won one election for two years to the US House of Representatives in 1846.

Abe lost all the elections after 1848 until he won the Presidency in 1861.

Never give up.

If Abe can do it, so can WE.

Whatever adversities we face we must talk about them and have God In our lives while doing it.

We must find our calling by constantly communicating with God. Having Him be front and center in our life.

Be good to yourself and you will be good to others.

The thought is, you must hone your storytelling skills on the correct footing.

How about this, make: YouTube or podcast videos.

Be someplace which the public can see you and get to know you.

That is a great way to tell your stories and be noticed.

Never be ashamed to say, “I do not understand” or “I need Help.”

Help will come when you least expect it.

I ended up in sales and started out my storytelling carrier that way.

Then I decided to be a tour guide at Eckley Miners’ Village to enhance my storytelling skills.

That is how I broadened my speaking abilities and storytelling skills. How about you?

Outline what you want to say.

You the writer know what you what to say.

The problem or copy you are writing is “how to say it intelligently” in written form.

The key factor is how you write your copy on paper.

Start with a baseline or outline to get your thoughts on paper.

Be curious about everything and anything.

This curiosity will lend itself nicely to the research you are performing and ideas you are extracting.

I try every day to be like Leonardo da Vinci.

This man was curious about everything and anything.

This is the reason why we have his written words and drawings.

Da Vinci was a curious man.

Being curious is an invaluable asset to problem solvers, scientists and writers.

You must have a working knowledge about what you want to discuss.

The way to do this is to be curious about what you are writing.

Take an active role in the writing and copy you put forth.

Do Your Research.

Having access to the internet at: Work, Home, Coffee Shops and Eateries is a blessing.

Yes, it can consume us and make us lazier through the constant “what if” or “who sent me this or that.”

We must learn to control and harness the technology.

We can use the internet for the good: help, inform and guide others.

That is the real power of research. Helping others by adding value to their own lives.

This is why we should take advantage of the net and do all sorts of research.

Do not take the word of another person as gospel.

Stipulate they are correct and do your own research on the subject.

Find things out. Be curious like Da Vinci was.

Why things happen the way they do.

“Keeping your mind going allows the wheels to be greased through the knowledge you attain.” Matthew J Gaydos

Doing the research means putting in the time to add value to your copy.

Just what I am doing in this copy.

I do my research by putting into copy, my findings. Why?

When you write you have something to say; not just “rambling on.”

Write in your Journal Daily = Better Communication.

By writing daily, your time will increase in dissecting the material you use for copy. This will help you out in problem solving, speaking and writing.

I do not want to bring my personal journal to work or school.

I use two little notebooks one for work and the other for me.

Write about your day, what silly or serious happenings are transpiring in your life.

Make sure your scribble them down.

I keep the second one on me at all times.

I make lists, notes or scribbles in my second notebook. Coded ciphers for myself.

That is how I take notes.

Better Yet, your cellphone. The new cell phones have apps for note taking.

Do not let the cellphone out of your sight.

Transfer in all you wrote from the other notebook or phone into your main journal.

Even though you can and will decipher your notes in and with your phone.

Do so at home. Not at work or school.

That will help out immensely.

What to write about? What should I write about?

This is totally up to you but, write every day.

Writing in your journal helps you see your life from a unique perspective. Writing down your personal thoughts will allow you to flush out your ideas onto the page.

You can then turn the ideas into personal positive psychological habits.

That is the beauty of Journaling. It is all about you and your own personal space.

Writing daily, allows you to stretch your mind and keep it nimble. Writing daily acts like grease for you thoughts.

“Write Daily, It is grease for your thoughts.”

Matthew J Gaydos

When you are in writing mode, you tend to be aware of your surroundings. Writing helps you be more aware of what you want to say and how to say it.

That is why I love to write. I have ideas to share and I share them.

Having ideas bound up and not allowing them to come to the surface to be placed on the copy is not a good feeling. I have been there.

By keeping your mind nimble and greased, you allow your ideas to flow and not have writers block.

Writer’s Block is what writers dread the most.

I know, I have been in that situation.

Freewriting.

Doing some freewriting is like warming up to workout. This will help you get your thoughts down on paper.

That is what you want; your thoughts down on paper to help facilitate your knowledge in a subject.

Freewriting and Curiosity will transcend themselves to words on the page. This is done by keeping you having free flowing sentences.

After your words on the page, you can save, copy and paste within you copy document.

This is why I love the Word Processing Program. I can save and redact my work and thoughts without wasting paper.

Write with background music or the TV on and the volume down low. Just so you can barely hear it. This will help you to focus and become mentally stronger.

Be Clear and Concise.

Do not ramble in your writing. Be laser focused and concise at what to say. Again this is why I like The Word Processing Program.

It is a device or tool that assists the writer in writing. I can save, rewrite or redact my thoughts.

Make sure your words count. This is where SEO comes into play. Julia McCoy is an awesome SEO Writer.

She and her team at Express Writers are top notch. She has taught me so much. I love reading her books. Julia is succinct at her writing.

Entrepreneurs such as Julia McCoy and Daniel Ally are wonderful. They are connected with me on LinkedIn. These are the people whom I want to emulate. Why?

They dive into their craft by adding Value to it. I follow their lead. They got me into writing. I did book reviews for them.

You, the writer, must keep the audience in mind when you are writing. They are the buyer or reader of your copy. Keep their attention and make them hold on to every word you say.

Know Your Audience.

Know to whom you are writing to and what you are writing about. Again keep it to the point. Brings in examples, charts and graphs

Examples + Charts + Graphs + Verbatums = Communication

Read Every Day.

I read every day on break and eating my meal at work.

I am constantly reading. My head is always in a book.

Read ideas that peak your interest. Read how others have the same issues as you.

Maybe you can gain insights into how they solved their issues and you can do the same.

I try to apply what I read to my daily life. When you apply what you read, your life will come together. First and for most we must FROG!!!!

It Means: Fully Rely On God.

God helps us out, we just need to communicate to him daily. He will answer our prayers.

Listen, I could not write without the help of God. I talk to him on a constant basis. DAILY; if you will.

When you read, you are expanding your mind. That is the best Investment you can make.

Here is another tip; read with background music or the TV on.

This forces you to concentrate on what you are reading and not having your attention diverted.

You want to become mentally strong and not hear the puzzle witted noise that is going on around you. Practice allowing your brain to block out unwanted noise.

Focus and Concentrate on Your Work.

MUST Redact or Edit.

Then transfer all the pertinent notes to the main journal. Flush out and Redact the notes; often.

In order for you to be good a something, you must practice and know the area well. Redacting helps with knowing your craft.

Edit, Edit, Edit, Redact, Redact. You hear this all the time. No matter what you write about redacting and editing are a must. Why? You must make your thoughts on the page, clear; Crystal Clear.

Even though you think you have the thoughts clear go over and check your writing again.

It never hurts to check. As what I am doing for this article.

Send your writing to at least one person whom you trust to give you honest feedback. I do this.

I tell the individual, put on your “dunce hat” and read my copy.

Make sure I have assimilated my ideas correctly and have given proper explanation to them.

If you trust them they will acknowledge that trust back to you in the form of honesty.

That my friends is what you what and need. A total honest feedback.

I learned this from reading, writing and watching Fox News.

Paragraphs.

Make your paragraphs one to three sentences long.

I learned this from Julia McCoy and her wonderful team at expresswriter.com. Why?

People have smart phones and they use the smart phone to read and scan information.

That is why we need to make the paragraphs short and concise.

Doing so it is easier for people to read, dissect and assimilate their thoughts on your copy.

That is why I am writing this way for the benefit of people whom are reading this copy on their cell phones.

Using different Genres.

Don’t just write the same way all the time.

Force yourself to write differently and for different genres.

This will increase your awareness to and for your writing.

Force thyself to push your own mental and mechanical writing abilities to the max.

I like to do this. I do: Book Reviews, Publish Lengthy Articles, Research and Write. Doing so keeps my writing fresh and my thoughts greased.

Writing for different genres forces me to develop and expand my writing skill set.

In Summation.

The overall premise, you need to test what you produce for your copy.

Make sure you read or allow others to read your work.

Just make sure you are stating and saying what you need to say and how to say it.

I hope this copy helps you out, in all-you-do.

The Best Person to Invest in Is Yourself!!! Never Forget That. Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners, The Profit, and CNBC say that all the Time.

Special Thanks to Shelia Kennedy for allowing me to use her article “Writing As A Tool For Healing.”

Thanks for Reading and Stopping by.

Good points. Just wondering how the daily challenges of spiritual life can effect the value of an individual writer if they are lost for words if words we write reveal what is in one's very soul?
