Tip of the tongue
We don't remember the name (but the face is matched in our photographic memory) while portraying the event that revolves around the person. we get stuck and our reviewing of what he looks like and what he is not, compared to others? continues... Yet, we can’t recall his name but everything else and you host the quiz to someone who might remember his name well. Then we get stuck to find out the name first and everything else later…
Once in a while, you must have experienced it, Have n’t you?
Because... We are living in the information and online today where everything is found with few taps on your mobile, we don’t even need to memorize the location of the page if you are reading the Kindle, or save the number that flashes on our mobile because we have an app for everything and thus we never pay attention to details because we tend to forget information that can be found readily online by mobile apps (The Google effect)
Tip of the tongue(also known as TOT) is the phenomenon of failing to retrieve a word or term from memory, combined with partial recall and the feeling that retrieval is about to happen.
How to beat the tip of the tongue - it is a failure of memory retrieval - to remember anything we must learn to associate something with it so that we can retain it and recall it when needed. For example, when you meet someone, always try to associate his/her name with some association, it can be his profession, his likes dislikes, or simply ask him/her 'what is the meaning of your name?' This will intentionally create a memory hook to access the memory through the right-brain’s visual memory pathway.
