Tip for Reducing Bearing Failures

 If you are experiencing premature anti-friction bearing failures, you should not only look at your lubrication practices but also your installation practices. When induction bearing heaters are used, the inner race heats faster than the outer race. This causes a thermal differential between the bearing's inner and outer race, which will reduce the bearing's internal clearance. If this differential is allowed to climb high enough, all internal clearance in the bearing can be eliminated, and damage to the balls and races can occur.

We dont need induction heater process if it by any means deviates manufacturing geometry of the bearing specific to bearing number. I think that installation by use of induction heater is ok till now. But we must not mix with clearance changes issue. Am I right?

If fit clearance within tolerances then there shouldn't be any problem as it is calculated in design stage, the real concern we should be looking at with using induction heater is to demagnetize the bearing after installation.

True thats why one need to monitor the temperature and timing while heating bearing with unduction heaters and so should have correct understanding to use it..thanks for sharing
