Tip 23 Practice Self-Care and Gratitude

The creative world is a demanding space, and burnout is common. This summer season spend time recharging—go for walks, meditate, read for pleasure. The more grounded and energised you feel, the better your work and outlook will be.

Use this quiet time over Xmas and the New Year to take a break from social media and practise the art of switching your screens off and your eyes and presence on! Relish in the long warm days and simple pleasures that be found over the summer months.

New Years Resolutions can be a great way to start some new habits off but don’t leave it till January 1st to consider what these might be. Lean into the days leading up to this moment to put all the preparation in place so that your resolve and commitment are fully in place for your starting date.

Over this period, take stock of the things you’re grateful for in your career and life. Gratitude shifts your mindset and helps us approach the future with positivity and resilience. Our minds can’t simultaneously consider negative thoughts and thoughts of appreciation so actively choose to embrace a more optimistic outlook as often as possible

Practice gratitude by reflecting on your accomplishments and the positive aspects of your life. Gratitude not only boosts your mood but also shifts your mindset, helping you approach challenges with resilience and optimism.

Consider journaling about things you’re grateful for, either daily or weekly. You could also create a gratitude jar, where you write down moments of joy or achievement and revisit them whenever you need a boost. Self-care might also mean setting boundaries—learn to say no to projects or commitments that don’t align with your goals or values.
