Tip 16: Logical or Linear? (Write Your Book Series)

Now, I've been asked a great question—"Should I write logically or in a linear fashion?" Let me use the lawyer answer here: "It depends!"

How do you write the best? The fastest? In the way you know serves your reader?

I tend to do both—asking myself: What's the order someone would need to read my content to get the best possible outcome? Is there an order of operations that just makes sense (such as: write first, then edit, then proofread, then format your manuscript...then do a final proof of the formatted manuscript to make any final corrections)?

You have the benefit of hindsight and experience. Feel free to share all you've got, and even be contrary to other often-heard advice. You'll always hear me advise you to take the time and money it requires to publish professionally so the time and money you invest in your book returns to you multiplied many times over the course of a decade. This is contrary to some who advise you to write and publish your book in 30 days. (Again, please do not do this!)

Combine what makes sense with what makes sense to you—and write that. That is what your readers need from you!

Happy writing and I'll see you tomorrow!
