Tip #111: The Failure Data Timeline
There are different failure data fields. I believe the WO timeline [shown below] explains where each field should be captured.
Note: the PROBLEM CODE applies to the COMPONENT.
So, from the above picture you can see how the failure mode can be created. I capture it in pieces. The problem code is early....and the failed part is at job completion. And the failure type was discussed in earlier tip.
The other benefit by having the failure mode in "pieces" is that this shortens the size of the list. And lastly, the early identification of the problem code enables duplicate work order notification (if your AMS software has that feature).
I will explain exactly how the failed part is captured in a later Tip.
Bonus question: why is the failure mode so important?! First person to answer (comment) can go home early.
