Last week, I was traveling to an event, and I noticed a huge piece of rock had fallen down on the side of the road. Earlier that week, it wasn’t there. On my return trip that evening, I stopped and looked at the rock wall it came down from.
Now what exactly caused the crack in the rock wall is unknown to me. Perhaps it was caused by water that had frozen over the years, and the weight of the part that fell was too much.
Our habits can cause major fractures in our life. What starts out as a small habit can lead to massive problems. For example, eating too much with no exercise causes us to gain weight, which means we have to buy a new wardrobe. It can also result in diseases like diabetes.
By looking at the behaviors and habits we have, we can determine what is separating us from the purpose that we were placed on this planet at this precise time to achieve. So how do we look at those behaviors and habits?
Right down your actions daily. Journaling helps in this respect. Start the day doing a brain dump of what you hope to accomplish.
When you pivot from one task to another, right down that action. Don't elaborate on it now, just make a note of it. Do this every time you switch tasks.
At the end of the day, see if you completed everything you wanted to. If not, then take a look at the tasks you did complete. Ask yourself if these were truly necessary.
By doing this over time, we can recognize what is holding us back and what is moving us forward. What makes us weaker and what makes us stronger.
You see, the more unnecessary items we accept in our lives, the more likely that small crack will grow and cause us to come crashing to the ground.
