Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results

Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results

I have a vast set of books and articles on my “to read” list which accumulated for the past years. It has always been my desire to cultivate a decent reading habit but like starting and maintaining any new habit, becoming an active reader can be tough (At least for me).

Few weeks back, I finally had a chance to read and digest this book “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. I primarily decided to establish a sensible reading schedule like to spend 1 to 2 hours of focus time every weekend on it. However, to my surprise, I can’t even put the book down on the first day. It’s indeed inspiring – I was hooked which is usually a solid sign that this book is exceptional.

I could perhaps write more lengthy posts with all the valuable insights I gained upon reading this book but I’m going to share just few of my favorite reminders that really inspired and moved me to start breaking my old habits and build good new ones:

  • "Improving by 1% isn’t particularly notable, sometimes it isn’t even noticeable - but It can be far more meaningful."
  • "If you can get 1% better each day for one year, you’ll end up 37 times better by the time you’re done."
  • "Habits are a double-edged sword. Bad habits can cut you down just as easily as good habits can build you up."
  • "Learning one new idea won’t make you a genius, but a commitment to lifelong learning can be transformative."
  • "All big things come from small beginnings. The seed of every habit is a single, tiny decision. As that decision is repeated, a habit sprouts and grows stronger."

Now, I have another reason to look forward to every weekend. Thanks to our Management team for providing each of us a copy of this book!
