TiNDLE Foods, a global food tech company founded in Singapore in April 2020, introduced its newest innovation, TiNDLE Breakfast Sausage, on September 26. The plant-based Breakfast Sausage is the company’s first product to be wholly developed and manufactured in the U.S. In partnership with Eat Just, Inc., Mr. Charlie’s in Los Angeles and Neat Burger in New York City will be the first restaurants to serve breakfast sandwiches made with TiNDLE breakfast sausage patty and JUST Egg’s fluffy folded eggs.
Developed and manufactured in the U.S.
The TiNDLE breakfast sausage was conceptualized and developed for consumers in the U.S. by Julie Ip, VP of Product Development-US at its R&D and innovation facility in Chicago. In September 2022, the company opened its third R&D center at The Hatchery Chicago to make technology relevant for the U.S. market and to support the company’s entrance into new U.S. sales channels. The other two R&D centers are located in Singapore (where core technology is developed) and The Netherlands (where the products are produced by a co-manufacturer). The company also announced its U.S. headquarters in Chicago in the same month.
Designed to offer the traditional flavors of American breakfast sausage, the breakfast sausage patty is made with U.S.-grown soy protein, coconut oil, potato starch, and oat fiber. Each serving contains 8g protein and 4g fiber, with no cholesterol, animal hormones, or antibiotics. The breakfast sausage is also the company’s first product to be entirely manufactured in North America at a co-manufacturer in the Pacific Northwest.
"We are thrilled to introduce TiNDLE Breakfast Sausage as our first American-designed innovation," said JJ Kass, VP of Business Development and Strategy at TiNDLE Foods in the company’s press release. "This launch not only showcases our dedication to developing delicious and sustainable foods, but also signifies a major achievement for our company as we serve the American market and consumers with a truly authentic and enjoyable breakfast experience."
A partnership with JUST Egg ?
TiNDLE Foods is collaborating with JUST Egg, the leading plant-based egg, for the first time to bring a plant-based spin on the traditional American breakfast sandwich to diners in Los Angeles and New York City. Mr. Charlie’s will offer a playful take on America’s favorite fast food breakfast with its plant-based "Frowny Meal" featuring a breakfast sandwich that combines TiNDLE Breakfast Sausage, a folded egg from JUST Egg, and a vegan cheddar cheese slice on top of a toasted English muffin.
Neat Burger, a plant-based restaurant chain serving guilt-free burgers backed by Lewis Hamilton and?Leonardo DiCaprio will introduce a weekend brunch menu on September 30 that includes a breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich, each made with TiNDLE Breakfast Sausage and JUST Egg.
Expansion Beyond Plant-Based Chicken
While TiNDLE Foods, formerly Next Gen Foods, is best known for its flagship product, TiNDLE Chicken, the company announced an expansion into additional categories – plant-based sausages and plant-based milks – in August. In March, the company acquired Mwah!, a dairy startup and maker of plant-based gelato.
After launching in the U.S. with one product in February 2022, TiNDLE Foods now offers seven products including the new breakfast sausage for foodservice operators. Its plant-based meats are available in over 1,000 eateries in the U.S. according to the company's signage at the National Restaurant Association Show. TiNDLE Foods seeks to increase the availability of its products in the U.S. market including plans to enter the retail segment within the next year.
