Tim's Top 5 Shares of the Week - Volume 14 | February 28, 2022

Hello friends and welcome to our newsletter. My name is Tim and my goal with publishing this is to highlight and "Share" the posts from the week that I've found most beneficial in building my experience in Multifamily (capital "M").

LinkedIn is vast in the amounts of business intelligence and insight shared every day. It is my goal to highlight the posts that I most resonate with and my thought process of how the strategy can quickly apply to the success of other Multifamily leaders and their properties.

I hope you enjoy!

Week - February 20-26

From LinkedIn: #1 - Reside Living

My first "Share" of the week caught my attention.

With all the talk about centralization in the industry, I had a hunch that's what I was seeing from Reside Living last week.

Or at least, a form of how I envision what centralization looks like.

In this new-to-market role for Reside, Kyle Silver will take on laying the foundation and paving the road for future individuals in a position just like his.

Throughout the job listing, Reside mentions their "Central" office and Kyle being their POC for "providing renewal and lead management support across the portfolio to achieve maximum revenue growth".

As soon as I wrap up typing this, I'm going to follow Kyle as I am super excited about this position and to learn all about Reside Living.

Plus I love job descriptions with the terms "revenue" and "growth" in them! ;)

--

If I had my say, I'd be so excited to making this role the "face" of the property/community.

Like how a cruise ship has their "Cruise Director", imagine how effective one go-to face for all things residents and properties could be for residents.

I see big things coming from this role.

Good luck Kyle and please, let's connect!

From LinkedIn: #2 - National Apartment Association

This next one caught my attention with all the bright and smiley faces included in the National Apartment Association and their "20 In Their Twenties" initiative.

--

It also resurfaced a very grimacing fact that I am no longer in my 20's.

Missed this by...about 9 months now.

Dang it!

--

Anyways, I absolutely LOVE initiatives like this!

I love the emphasis placed on young leaders.

How empowering and reassuring to be recognized so young in their career.

Something to boast about (humbly, of course) for the rest of their professional career.

It also creates a community for the NAA with alumni from the past.

Or at least, it should!

So excited to follow this and be sure to nominate someone (under 30) in your group that's making a difference in the Multifamily space!

From LinkedIn: #3 - Greystar

This next "Share" does not surprise me at all given the good I see Greystar doing.

Congratulations to Valerie Fertitta for being named president of the Chicagoland Apartment Association!

Valerie has been a part of Greystar since the acquisition of JPI in 2009, where she was since 2001.

And with the impressive list of experience in CRE, I don't doubt for one second that the association will be well managed under Valerie's guidance and expertise.

As mentioned in this article, Valerie serves with loads of experience in commercial real estate, including luxury lease-ups from pre-development to stabilization, as well as large renovation projects from acquisition to successful repositioning.

She has overseen a variety of product types, including garden, mid-rise, high-rise, and mixed-use.

This is truly great to see!

And judging by my revered colleagues (mutual connections of Valerie), I have no doubt that Valerie will lead the association to greater things!

From LinkedIn: #4 - KETTLER

This next "Share" is one of my favorites that I've seen as we recognize Black History Month.

Watching and learning about Daryl Smith, Chief Marketing Officer at KETTLER, and gaining an inside perspective of what Black History Month means to him and his family is really awe inspiring.

Each year, as we celebrate Black History Month, I look to surround myself with the voices that uplift this tradition and spread history and awareness of this enriched culture so I can better learn and appreciate the struggles of those generations before.

Something that really stood out to me was the family pride and involvement in commercial real estate from Daryl.

This dating all the way back to Daryl's grandfather owning his own construction business!

The apple does not fall far from the tree and it's so cool to see the passion and talent of commercial real estate carry through the generations, and how Daryl's grandfather served as a beacon for Daryl as he thrives in a new world.

Thank you for sharing your story with us, Daryl, and bravo to KETTLER for spreading awareness of what inclusion and Black History Month really means.

From LinkedIn: #5 - Emily S.

The last and final "Share" of the week comes to us from Emily S. and Waterton.

--

Is it me, or do I feature Waterton in this newsletter a lot?

I promise there is no compensation or paid promotion here, I just really like what this team is doing!

--

Anyways, I really enjoyed Emily's post.

One year with any company is truly a pivotal moment.

A lot of self-reflection takes place as you remember the highlights and triumphs of the past year.

I mean you gave an organization one full year of your life for crying out loud!

How cool and fulfilling it must feel hearing with your own ears from your residents that you are doing what you set out to do.

There is simply no powerful of a tool for marketing purposes or to make you feel you've found your work family.

This reminds me of Jude Chiy's post from last week too:

If your PMC is not sourcing for Google reviews, you are missing out for a chance at some highly qualified exposure for your brand.

Well done, Emily S.! :)
