If the times don't become better, we must become better

During the last couple of years, it looked like a boom time all around. Lots of new companies, lots of new jobs, lots of new opportunities everywhere. As we come towards the end of this year, I know of many people personally who've left a job, lost their job, saw their entrepreneurial dreams fail or witnessed a saturation in business.

Invariably we are all told that the times will get better and then there will be something for everybody, but the present reality is that we only have more unemployable youth graduating out of college each year, there are fewer real opportunities being created by the industry and slowly automation technologies are creeping in to displace human intervention.

If you are serious about your career, then please don't keep waiting for the times to become better, for it is us who needs to become better with time. Whether it is adding skills, exploring opportunities or doing things which we think will help us in the future, please begin now.
