关于我们
As the leading economic development agency in Whitman County, the Port develops land and infrastructure to help businesses flourish. The Port owns three Snake River ports, Pullman Industrial Park, Port of Whitman Business Air Center and a newly acquired development site in Tekoa, Washington. The Port also operates Boyer Park and Marina, a 140-acre park and marina on the lower Snake River on a long-term lease with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Port operations help support nearly 6,000 jobs annually. Today, the Port of Whitman County Commissioners authorized an earnest money agreement for a property behind Colfax High School as a potential site for a new childcare facility. The Commission’s action comes after several months of community engagement around and analysis of the gaps and needs for childcare in Whitman County. “Consistent with the Port’s mission and our role as Whitman County’s associate development organization, we are learning more, responding to the community’s needs, and determining how best to support this as a workforce and quality-of-life issue," said Port Commission President Tom Kammerzell. "This is yet another example of the Port broadening its efforts across Whitman County.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gDvvFSNq #colfaxwa #childcare

Are you thinking about succession planning for your small business? Port of Whitman County staff recently met with the Northwest Cooperative Development Center, which assists individuals and businesses in converting to a cooperative, employee-owned business model. One opportunity available to you in succession planning is to sell your business to your employees and create a worker co-op. In Washington State, you can take a tax credit for up to 50% (but no more than $25,000) of the costs of converting your business to a co-op.
