The timeless reason that I just joined Dale Carnegie

It’s a thrill and an honor to have just joined the Dale Carnegie organization. I’m joining a team whose people and offerings have proven over time to be a significant contributor to many careers – even life changing for some (including for me).
A rookie in a world of pros
When I first moved to Pittsburgh as a rookie in a world of professionals, I was one year out of grad school, and being moved by my company from corporate HQ to the field – where revenue attainment happens. I was already surrounded by the best and brightest – from IBM, Xerox and other companies who forged the most successful people who were now training me on the job. I needed a way to compete.
So my boss and I decided to enroll me in a Dale Carnegie program, where I thought I’d hone my sales skills. While that did happen – making me an excellent sales person – it more importantly gave me skills to make me prosper professionally: communications, interpersonal, leadership, motivational. In short, it was a course on how to succeed professionally. I subsequently broke records, found new ways to get things done better, and built a foundation for a career that I probably otherwise could not have imagined.
Over the years, as I progressed, I got many other people involved in Dale Carnegie – from people who were on my staff to total strangers who needed help with specific challenges or just wanted to improve professionally. I was a mouthpiece – often telling people about the life changing aspects of Dale Carnegie training and how valuable it was for me.
Fast forward to Today
Now as a member of the Dale Carnegie field team, I have the conviction of someone who has benefited – and somebody who has heard the stories of success from others. Sitting through recent sessions has demonstrated to me that participants today are engaged and that happy about being there. Because it’s helpful for them and their companies.
Even the youngest professionals who attend are highly motivated and just as compelled by the concepts Dale Carnegie first espoused 104 years ago.
So it was an air-tight case for why I should join the Dale Carnegie organization. I’ve been a missionary for them for years. Now I get to do it full time, and they pay me for it. Who can ask for anything more?

8 年Congrats to you Dave. My wife worked for the organization 30 years ago. She still quotes his advice on a regular basis. As you say, its timeless.
