Time to Zig while the world Zags!

Dear LinkedIn connections,

Some of you are my friends, some acquaintances, ex-colleagues, clients, industry peers and some who I have never met… All of you have associated me with my work at Expotrade where I work as Head of Sales and today I take this opportunity to announce that after spending an ineffaceable 8.5 years at this beautiful organisation, finally I bid adieu to one of the best conference companies of our times where I truly loved working at every single day of my life since May 2012!

As I spend the last day of my long tenure at Expotrade, I take pride in my decision to resign from my current role as a matter of ‘Choice’ instead of ‘Survival’ during tough times. Some might call me crazy for resigning and leaving a ‘steady pay’ and a ‘secure job’ while thousands are Jobless but I guess real life begins at the end of one’s comfort zone. So yes, I resigned from a well-paid secure role in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic when countries are enforcing quarantine measures, businesses suspending operations, economies taking a hit and thousands of people being pushed into dire straits.

One would say it’s perfectly reasonable to stick to one’s comfort zone and maintain the status quo during these uncertain times where Job security is utmost priority however for me COVID-19 acted as a catalyst to show resilience and strength towards my dreams, be brave and leave my comfort zone to set sail embracing the winds of change for I truly believe that there are no failures but learnings and COURAGEOUS PEOPLE GO FURTHER THAN CAUTIOUS PEOPLE.

As I set myself to go against the grind and achieve new frontiers in life, I offer my 110% commitment towards the following two that are very close to my heart:

  1. Conference Industry – I promise to stay dedicated and work tirelessly in delivering quality events while lifting the standards of a vibrant conference industry that has been my ‘bread n better’ all my professional life. Despite the recent disruption, this is one of the best industries that works as an imperative business generation accelerator for thousands of companies worldwide and as one of its members, I promise to keep the spirits of the industry high by being truthful and honest towards my work!
  2. Sales – All those who have worked with me in the past or have read my articles, would know that I align myself with a higher purpose for being in the sales profession. Sales is a mentorship based profession and I commit myself in developing high-performing sales talent, impart experience based knowledge, dispense tactical sales advice and dedicate myself in creating ‘Sales Leaders’ who will further develop the next-gen sales force. I take it as my inherent duty to develop sales people who are data-driven, competitive, resilient, empathetic, honest and believe in delivering value to their clients!

I would like to end my bit with some words from Margie Warrell’s book : Brave - 50 Everyday Acts of Courage to Thrive in Work, Love, and Life ;

“None of us is immune to fear—of failing, criticism, rejection, or being ‘found out’ as unworthy in some way. Yes, left unchecked, our fears can confine our lives in countless ways. Which is why living fully is synonymous with living bravely: being willing to back yourself and take a risk, speak your truth and exit your comfort zone to go after what you truly want, change what you don’t and honour yourself fully”
