A Time You Led
Task: Tell a one-minute story entitled 'A Time You Led' (as part of the Creativity, Innovation & Leadership diploma).
It’s 2018. A referendum on a divisive social issue has been called.?
You know you want to get involved, but you feel so strongly on the issue that you’re worried you won’t be able to stay calm when facing opposition.?
You hem and haw, but ultimately take the leap and sign up to join a group canvassing door to door.?
You take a deep breath and ring the first doorbell.?
After a few houses, you realise that many people are undecided, and actually welcome a chat about the details, the consequences, their hopes and their fears. You relax into it.
Two particular conversations that night stay in your mind. One man and one woman who weren’t going to vote. But because you took the time to ask them their thoughts, and you let them see your passion, your conviction, your vision and your vulnerability, they agreed to support your side. Every vote always matters.
This was a time you led.
