Time to UNMASK the corporate disguise and say what you really mean.

Oh it’s that time of year... It’s a fun time! It doesn’t have half the expectations of other celebrations! And always gives me a laugh!
As I scroll through my LinkedIn feed, I see the now familiar and mandatory posts;
“So thankful for [my current company] for an amazing journey, delighted to be moving on to [new adventure/next chapter] ..."
“So honoured to be part of this amazing [team/initiative]..."?
“So thankful to the leadership team at [organization] …”?
“So grateful to attend this amazing [event], forever grateful…”?
“I’m a huge advocate for [cause], so proud to be part of this mission...”?
The list is endless, but I wonder, are these posts just another kind of mask??
The MASK to feel accepted, to be celebrated, to feel you belong, to conform to expectations? To create an illusion of success and gratitude??(Before I get my head chopped off Halloween style, I know some are honest, and heartfelt!)?
I often wonder, what if, for one day you took off the mask and said what you really thought/felt on your LinkedIn post (or indeed more importantly in real life)??
If you allowed yourself the permission to share what you truly thought? Gave yourself permission to be truly you??
I wonder what all our LinkedIn feeds would look like? What would happen in our real lives??
We’d certainly have more honesty?
We’d certainly have more authenticity??
And we might even have a few scary conversations??
But wouldn’t that be refreshing??
So this Halloween, what mask are we wearing? And is it time to take it off, even for a few minutes?
Thank you for reading.

My work with clients is often to stand with them and help them “unmask”.?
Together we get really focussed on what they want, to not just be effective but to thrive in their lives.?
This starts with understanding what’s truly important, (I mean really important) what’s getting in the way and what’s worth aiming for!?Often peeling the mask off and having honest conversations!?
It’s hard to achieve this, to figure this out alone. If you're curious to understand more about working together, you know where to find me!

I always have music on at the desk and very often I’ll have an acoustic or classical playlist of well known anthems playing.?It’s always cool to listen to variations on the originals to listen to a total transformation.?
I have loved this one recently, "Sky Full of Stars". I share it in celebration of the life of a wonderful young woman, who sadly left this world very recently, Edel RIP.

4 个月Love this! Wearing “masks” hides the real person - we don’t need them.
